Trends come and go fast and furiously in fashion and then interior design follows.
It is tough to know what to do with all the styles and choices that have
never-ending changes.
This guide will help you navigate the trends.
Determine which ones to act on and which ones to let take their course.

2021 Trends
Transitional Furniture Base Style–
This is the most important trend of all
unless you are ultra-rich and can
change everything out as the trends
change, which they will.
Most of us cannot afford to change
furniture with trends. So, the solution
is transitional furniture as the base
style.
This is essentially simple line
furnishings that can lean toward
whatever style you put it with.
Think, modern with Asian, modern
with vintage, modern with French,
modern with whatever style you like.
This style is created by combining
transitional base pieces with one or
two additonal styles in one space,
resulting in a cohesive design.

furniture that can blend well
and fit well with any style.

Floors:
Flatweaves, Dhurries, and Polypropylene
area rugs.
A Dhurrie Rug is an Indian term for a
handwoven rug or a thin flat carpet, an item
of home furnishing. They are usually woven in
natural materials like wool and sometimes
cotton.
Flatweaves are also usually very well priced.
Color:
Grays are still popular but the
overuse is making the color less
appealing.
The Pantone Color of the Year 2021
is Ultimate Gray and Illuminating.
This is the familiar gray and bright
yellow of a lemon peel.
The grays popularity are moving into
beiges. Are you wanting a change
from the norm?
Use calming and grounded earth tones. These are soft shades inspired by nature
and create a freshness as a base color.
The Benjamin Moore color of the year is Aegean Teal.
Benjamin Moore's 2021 color palette is dreamy. It is my personal colors…I LOVE it!
Use one of these soft neutrals as the base color. Matched ut with a splash of your
favorite bold colors to create playful modernity.

Furniture Styles trending right now are: Livable Luxury and Versatility:
Modern or transitional furniture coupled with Indoor Plants – make the scene!
your parent's Traditional or Vintage Classics.
Live plants are always the best.
Think Chippendale and Neoclassic. Klismos
Chair, marble columns, Greek Key patterns, Unless you are like me and kill everything
and Vintage pieces from days gone by. no matter how hard you try.
This marriage of the New and Old can be If that is the case, mix the real with the
stunning. fake and keep ‘um guessing…LOL.
Also trending is the Arts and Crafts Do your best! Make sure if they are not

they look real and fabulous.

woods, mosaics, leaded glass, and stone.

Wall Colors: With smart lights, you can save yourself
both time and energy!
Gray, Beiges, Soft Lemon tones, and
Warm Whites.
Shiplap and Barn doors – these have
been overdone so they are not as
appealing, but they are still trending.
Plaster walls are making a big come back.
Also, there are some very cool peel and
stick wallpapers that are trending.
Even botanical walls are showing up if
you are very bold.

The pandemic is still trending,

must be big enough.
Bidets are coming back into high
demand.
They now come in the form of a toilet
seat cover that anyone can install.
They heat the water so no special water
heaters required.

Out with Succulents in with rich

Flowered tableware, wallpaper,
upholstery, art, fabrics, and pillows are
abundant this year.
Best paired as accents, but it is up to you
and your personal style.
Misc Items:
Statement mirrors are one of those
items that are always trending.
Usually, designers specify mirrors, but
they are being used more and more by
everyone.
Mirrors can complement your style,
reflect beautiful things, make the room
feel bigger. They are very hardworking
and beautiful pieces.
12 Vintage:
Small drink tables are functional as well

Some details will be statement
lampshades, velvets, and velours.
Antique shoppers pick up your finds
immediately because it may not be there
when you go back. These are one of a
kind pieces and when they are gone, they
are gone.
