Not only is it essential for successful agriculture, food and energy production, it is a children’s issue because water is vital for healthy development and survuval. We believe that all children need clean, safe water todat – so they have a chance at tomorrow. About the Founder CannedWater4kids (cW4k) was established in 2008 by Greg Stromberg, a can industry executive who was alarmed at the rate at which children worldwide were dying from water-borne diseases caused by the lack of clean, safe drinking water. With support from the Can industry, and a passion for wanting to save children and reverse this trend of water-borne diseases, our lean 501c3 E-charity was born. The aluminum can and aluminum bottle have become a billboard for broadcasting the charity’s purpose. Our canned water product also promotes the impressive sustainability attributes of the aluminum container which benefits the industry- and our environment. Best of all, we’re helping children today so they Greg Stromberg Founder & CEO have a chance at tomorrow. Our Work is focused on 4 areas cW4k Believes in sustainable solutions. As the great philosopher, Maimonides once said, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”. We make sure that those we help know how to sustain the solutions we provide. We do this in four areas: Water Projects: This includes the digging of wells and water purification solutions. Project partners include but are not limited to organizations including: Engineers Without Borders, UNICEF, Watercharity.org, SON International and World Vision. Disaster Relief: We have sent over 3,000,000 cans of fresh drinking water as aid to the people in Haiti, New Jersey, Japan, Florida, Texas, Puerto Rico and Flint, Michigan. Education: We support global programs that help educate individuals about the growing clean water crisis, water conservation, the importance and benefits of recycling, and how to make informed healthy decisions about what you drink. Promotion of the Can Industry: cW4k is a philanthropic member of the Can Industry in the US. We actively participate in promoting the value of choosing beverages/products packaged in infinitely recyclable aluminum cans. Those include: Lukasa Well Project – Zambia, Africa Thanks to a recently completed clean water project in Lusaka the capital of Zambia Central Africa, the 400,000 people of the Msisi compound which is largely comprised of children, now have access to clean, safe water. The clean water will allow for successful agriculture, food and energy production. Most importantly, it will cut down on waterborne diseases and allow the children healthy development and a better chance at survival. The project was carried out by Bishop Benson Chiwoma and local contractors funded entirely by CannedWater4Kids. Watch this video to tour the project and village with Bishop Benson and friends. www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4CgIBbZTkY Point of Grace Academy – Kenya, Africa We were excited knowing that we helped an entire village of The Point of Grace Academy is located over 400,000 people, mostly children, finally have access to in rural Kisumu along the shores of Lake clean, safe water. Victoria. This region is known for having some of the highest levels of HIV/AIDS in all of Kenya. While the school sits on the shores of Lake Victoria, clean, safe water is in scarce supply. Raw sewage, heavy farm runoff, toxic chemicals and algae blooms have rendered the water unsafe. Consequently, the population, especially school children have suffered from numerous diseases caused by unsafe water: diarrhea, worm diseases, skin and eye infections. Making the journey to find clean, safe water often pulls children away from school and learning. Thanks to cW4k, help is on the way! We’ve committed to funding the delivery and installation of a sustainable state-of-the art water filtration system. Our investment: $15,000. Impact: Clean, safe drinking water for 800 students and two neighboring villages- 2,500 people. Christian Calvary Missionary & Farm – Zambia, Africa A new well provides clean, safe drinking water and irrigation for gardens that provide food for orphans, widows, missionary inhabitants and poor in the community. 13

EWB@UWM continues to partner with Agua Para La Salud (APS), with over thirteen years of experience in implementing water systems. EWB@UWM‘s current project concerns two communities, Vitostix and Vijolom III, which are two communities in the northern highlands of Guatemala. Recent village growth resulted in a shortage of water supply due to dried springs. The villages required a new water supply system that will provide sufficient water to both communities. APS works alongside Quiche’s La Asociación, a community- driven organization working to improve living conditions of the Quiche community. Student members worked alongside Milwaukee-area professional mentors to develop and design a water distribution system that utilizes appropriate, sustainable technology. Designed for a life of 20 years, the system includes four spring boxes, a distribution tank and a 9,200 meter conveyance line. Approximately 102 families (714 people, more than 500 children) will benefit from the system. Learn more about this project from Marissa R. Jablonski, PhD Student of Civil/Environmental at the University of Wisconsin and board member of cW4k. http://vimeo.com/59819190 “We are excited to hear that CannedWater4kids is gaining momentum in the beverage industry,” said Jared Thede, a mechanical engineering student in his senior year, and participant of the recent trip to Guatemala. “CannedWater4Kids has shown us their support since the day we met them. They made it possible to provide clean water solutions in Guatemala through their financial support.” In Guatemala, cW4k helped fund and deliver a sustainable clean water distribution system that will help to provide clean safe water to a village for over 20 years. 14
