TIRE INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION 2021-22 BOARD OF DIRECTORS NOMINEES ® JOHN BALDWIN — DISCOUNT TIRE CO., SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. Tire Dealer Market: Retail John is a senior vice president at Discount Tire Co., North America’s largest independent tire and wheel dealership, and a current TIA Board member. He is internationally recognized for his research on tire aging, tire test development and tire service life prediction and was an integral part of the root cause team while working for Ford Motor Co. during the Firestone/Explorer tire recall. John also worked with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration extensively on tire test development and tire aging. In his current role John has traveled the world to work with tire manufacturers on improving tire construction and performance. He is an industry veteran who brings both deep technical and market knowledge to the position. John is passionate about customer and employee safety and has worked both internally at Discount Tire and externally with various organizations on safety-related topics. John currently serves on the TIA Board as chairman of the Retail Advisory Council, with a goal of leveraging the industry’s larger retailers’ knowledge, experience and resources in order to help TIA in working with the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association and addressing legislative issues impacting tire dealers and the tire industry. BILLY EORDEKIAN — 1-800EVERYRIM, SANTA FE SPRINGS, CALIF. Supplier Markets: Wholesale, Recycling Billy began full-time work in 1976 re-boxing parts and pulling wheels for Motor, Rim & Wheel Service. From 1977 to 1986 he helped pave the way at his father’s tire store, and in 1987 he started up Used Rim, Inc., which was one of the first companies to specialize in used and new take-off OEM replacement wheels on a national level. In 2007 he founded 1-800EveryRim OEM Wheels, a top nationwide distributor of alloy and steel factory original wheels carrying used, new takeoffs, reconditioned and replicas. A founding member of the SEMA Wheel and Tire Council, Billy is also a two-term president of the California Tire Dealers Association. He describes himself as creative, committed and as having a passion for the tire industry. Although Billy is president of 1-800EveryRim, his focus has always been marketing. As a TIA Board member, he said he would contribute from both a retailer’s point of view and also that of a supplier to independents as well as large retailers. Helping the tire industry further prosper while promoting it with pride, Billy would serve as a TIA Board member in any capacity deemed appropriate. SCOT HOLLOWAY — BARTEC USA, L.L.C., STERLING HEIGHTS, MICH. Supplier Market: Retail With 35 years of automotive experience including design, quality control, management, marketing and manufacturing, Scot said he would bring to the TIA Board a passion and excitement for the automotive aftermarket. He began his career in the automotive aftermarket in 2005 as product manager for Bartec USA Ltd. and has risen to become the company’s CEO. He has shaped Bartec’s business philosophy around a commitment to helping customers understand tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) technology. Under his leadership Bartec supplies TPMS tools to a number of “Top 100” tire retailers. Scot has a strong record of service within multiple aftermarket associations including SEMA and TIA, where he has supported automotive tire service (ATS) and TPMS training at the Training Summit. He said he believes that greater education leads to better and safer service. If elected he said he would bring his business philosophy of compassion, commitment and helping customers achieve success to his role as a TIA director. In addition, he would work to assist TIA as the association strives to improve and strengthen the industry.
TIRE INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION 2021-22 BOARD OF DIRECTORS NOMINEES ® DAVID JORDANGER — SONSIO, L.L.C., ARVADA, COLO. Supplier Markets: Retail, Commercial/Truck David is chief revenue officer at Sonsio L.L.C., a company that offers tire road hazard protection, appearance, parts and labor warranties, mechanical advisory and other consumer services. He has more than 30 years of executive-level experience in the tire retail, wholesale and dealer services industries and played an integral role in creating one of the largest wholesale tire distributors in the U.S. He prizes a customer-first approach that has allowed him to “develop numerous solutions to drive customer success, increase profitability and customer retention.” He has been described as someone who always has a clear focus and passion on driving customer safety, process implementation and system utilization. David has helped guide tire retailers to implement improved vehicle inspections and pricing models and leverage technology to connect with consumers. He also has developed numerous products and services that drive customer retention and financial benefit to all parties. His main interest in joining the Board is to continue to drive the TIA message of tire safety from the dealer network directly to consumers. He would like to be more involved in understanding the needs of the multiple constituents that make up the body of TIA members and believes his knowledge, experience, ability to influence and passion can assist in developing and delivering a compelling message. CHRIS RHOADES — BKT TIRES, COPLEY, OHIO Manufacturer Markets: Industrial, OTR, Farm/Agriculture Currently senior product manager, technical solutions, for BKT Tires, Chris has 22 years of OTR tire industry experience between BKT and Bridgestone. He was the historical product manager of Bridgestone’s TreadStat, developer of BKT’s SPOTech field evaluation solution, a 2018 TIA Off-the-Road Tire Conference keynote speaker and a 2020 TIA panelist in a session on the Next Generation of the OTR Industry. Chris combines field work experience in mines across the world with a technical know-how to develop industry-leading solutions. He describes himself as passionate about seeing and developing the next generation of OTR industry experts. He seeks to bring the end user, dealer and manufacturer to the same table to look at data and analyze ways to improve tire performance and productivity. He calls himself a problem solver who listens and wants to leverage the wisdom of the experienced with the technical innovations of the day. Chris said he would like to join the TIA Board to bring his understanding of the OTR tire industry and passion for developing innovative solutions to increase the value to members. Specifically, he would focus on increasing membership and participation with the next generation of tire industry professionals. He also would like to contribute to TIA’s website and app roadmap and would like to explore and help the training and education group develop standards on tire tracking and performance analysis. He also would like to work across all groups in establishing best practices for TPMS usage and analysis for TIA’s standards. RYAN SCHRADER — RNR TIRE EXPRESS, TAMPA, FLA. Tire Dealer Market: Retail Ryan is the director of franchise operations for RNR Tire Express. He has more than 14 years in the retail tire industry with experience ranging from store openings to staff training, product procurement and performance tracking. He currently is responsible for onboarding new franchisees and ensuring their success through profit and loss analysis, product procurement, vendor relationships and monitoring the development of store personnel with each location. Ryan said he is dedicated to the continued success of the company’s more than 150 locations and to the tire industry overall. A native of Florida, Ryan has a passion for the outdoors and for expanding his knowledge on key subjects that he feels can be of benefit to himself and the tire industry. TIA training programs are a big part of RNR’s business, and he would like to help the association in any way he can.
TIRE INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION 2021-22 BOARD OF DIRECTORS NOMINEES ® GARY C. SCHROEDER — COOPER TIRE & RUBBER CO., FINDLAY, OHIO Manufacturer Markets: Commercial/Truck Gary is executive director of Global TBR (truck and bus radial) business for Cooper Tire & Rubber Co, which was recently acquired by Goodyear. He has 35 years of experience in sales and marketing, operations and finance, including 15 in the tire industry. For the last 10 years, he has led Cooper’s global commercial tire business. In this role, he has expanded Cooper’s truck and bus business into all core channels – dealers, OEM and fleet – and created strategic relationships with customers in each channel. At Cooper, Gary has been a featured speaker at tire dealer conferences and presented tire-related matters to the International Trade Commission in Washington, D.C. With 25 years in executive-level positions, Gary has gained experience in creating and leading high-performing teams. His strategic thinking, results-oriented management approach and an ability to gain alignment among constituents has enabled him to move teams on the best paths forward. He believes his experience working with dealers, OEMs and fleets and his positive results in the business demonstrate his ability to contribute and lead across different groups. Gary hopes that serving on the TIA Board will allow him to have a positive impact on the entire industry. LEIGH-ANN STEWART — KAL TIRE, VERNON, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA Tire Dealer, Retreader Markets: Retail, Commercial/Truck, OTR, Industrial, Farm/Agriculture, Wholesale, Retread/Repair, Recycling Leigh-Ann is director of health and safety for Kal Tire, where she has been the dealership’s senior safety professional for the past 18 years. In this role she has led a variety of activities including: the implementation of a safety leadership program across 17 countries; implemented safety strategies that resulted in a more than 60% reduction in workplace accidents; and the introduction of numerous safety and operational initiatives. She was the lead incident investigator for three tire-related fatalities and two court cases. In addition, she has advised the senior executive team and learning/ development teams on improvements to various operational business activities. As a TIA Board member, she looks forward to sharing her experience from a safety perspective in the area of OHS law specific to passenger and light truck, commercial, industrial, farm and OTR, as well as retreading, warehousing and trucking. She said she is passionate about being involved in the industry’s growth and wellbeing and would welcome the opportunity to be part of TIA’s Board of Directors. DON VANDERHEYDEN — HENNESSEY INDUSTRIES, LA VERGNE, TENN. Supplier Markets: Retail, Commercial/Truck, Industrial, OTR Don is the vice president of commercial for Hennessy Industries, the maker of the Coats brand of wheel service equipment, and a current TIA Board member. He joined the company in 2001 and has held positions in purchasing, marketing and sales. Don has deep roots in tire equipment and is focused on the needs and challenges of the independent tire dealer. He describes himself as an innovator and workhorse who embraces new technology and business practices in response to changes in the marketplace. Don is grateful for the privilege of currently serving on TIA’s Board. Throughout his first board term, he has welcomed the opportunity to advocate, educate and provide support for the association’s membership and the tire industry as a whole. Throughout Don’s 20-year tire industry career, he regularly collaborates with customers, many of whom are colleagues or customers of his fellow board members. He said that together they work to transform their businesses, implement processes to improve productivity and help design equipment to make their shops more efficient.
