Hugs to all! ~Chris Spring will Sprung in More ways Than One Could it really be that we can see the light at the end of the COVID tunnel? Every week, numbers of positive tests are declining, hospitalizations are down, mask mandates are slowly lifting, all in time for Spring. Springtime brings warmer weather, tree and flower blossoms, and longer, brighter days. Even though we can’t get rid of COVID soon enough, in its wake will be an everlasting and devastating impact. The Massachusetts Healthy Aging Collaborative has estimated there will be a 30% increase in Alzheimer’s and other dementia related diseases all contributed to the isolation and decreased quality of life we experienced during the height of the pandemic. To help with the effects of this problem on caregivers, we will be providing a Savvy Caregiver workshop starting in April. Savvy Caregiver is a 6 consecutive week series of 2 hour sessions that will provide the caregiver with skills, knowledge and techniques needed to provide care to a person (most often a friend, or family member) who has been diagnosed with Alzhei- mer's or dementia. Sessions will start April 26th at 1:30pm. Pre-registration is required. It is our hope that although we cannot prevent Alzheimer’s or dementia, we can be a partner to help those who are caregivers find a bit of relief so you too can experience Springtime’s sunshine and renewal. 1 Ludlow Senior Center (413) 583-3564 www.ludlow.ma.us
