• To ensure maximum protection against COVID-19 and the
Delta variant, Ontarians should should complete their
vaccination series as soon as they can
• PHAC has noted the following about the Delta variant;
      • Transmissibility is high
      • Disease severity is unknown
      • Immunity and re-infection in convalescent patients is low
      • Vaccine effectiveness is moderate and better after a
          completed series, and
      • Surveillance programs have a moderate risk of not detecting
          cases.
Increased Vaccine Supplies

• Largest shipment ever arriving for London-
  Middlesex this weekend – 42 882 doses
  Moderna
• In addition to:
  – 19 000 Moderna last week

Vaccine Interchangeability
• MLHU is receiving a very large shipment of vaccine next
week and has opened accelerated second dose
appointments for all adults who received their first dose on
  or before May 30th.

This means that in order to get as many people vaccinated
as soon as possible, any available mRNA vaccine will be
used to fulfill second doses, regardless of what someone
                   received for their first dose.

• Interchangeability is an important component of delivering
more vaccine to more people as quickly as possible!
COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility:

COVID-19 Vaccine
             administration errors
• The Ministry of Health has developed COVID-19 Vaccine
Administration Errors and Deviations Guidance for
  healthcare providers.
• Upon identification of an error, these are the key steps to
  take;
   o Inform the vaccine recipient,
o Complete Ontario’s AEFI reporting form, if the error results in an
AEFI, and send it to the Health Unit,
o Determine how the error occurred
o In consultation with public health, consider serological testing to
assess vaccine-induced immunity in consultation with public health
o Report to supervisor/employer, professional body, the Canadian
Medication Incident Reporting and Prevention System (CMIRPS), and
to the Middlesex-London Health Unit (only if there was an AEFI).
