COVID-19 Third Dose Recommendations The Ministry of Health has updated its recommendations for third doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. • The updates include: – a full list of immunosuppressant medications eligible for third doses, and – an expanded list of long-term care and other congregate settings to reflect NACI’s recommendations on third doses.
Targeted COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Screening • Ontario announced improving access to COVID-19 rapid antigen screening by making it available to students where risk of transmission is high • The program will support access to voluntary, rapid asymptomatic screening for unvaccinated children / students
Targeted COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Screening • COVID-19 rapid antigen screening for childcare / school age children will proceed as follows: – Where local public health identifies schools / childcare centres that would benefit from screening, rapid antigen screening tests will be made available. Parents will be able to choose if their unvaccinated asymptomatic children will participate – Unvaccinated children participating can conduct the rapid antigen screening at home with instructions – Children who receive a positive result must seek a PCR test at a local assessment centre and isolate until the result is known – Children who receive a negative rapid antigen test result will be able to continue in-person learning
Letter of Instruction – Proof of Vaccination to enter sport and recreation facilities • Huron Perth Public Health, the Middlesex-London Health Unit and Southwestern Public Health announced additional proof of vaccination requirements for recreational facilities used for organized sports. • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination will now be required for anyone over the age of 12 who enters an indoor area of a sports or recreational fitness facility to participate in, coach, officiate, or watch organized sport. • The requirement will come into effect on October 31st. • due to the nature of sport and fitness activities, which can create opportunities for COVID-19 to spread more easily. • It was also made in part because everyone 12 years of age and older is currently eligible to receive the vaccine.
Federal Vaccination Requirements for Travel Effective October 30, 2021 • Employers in federally regulated air, rail, and marine transportation sectors are required to establish vaccination policies for their organizations • Air passengers departing from Canadian airports, travellers on VIA Rail and Rocky Mountaineer trains, and travellers on non-essential passenger vessels on voyages of 24 hours or more, such as cruise ships, will need to be vaccinated
Provincial Wedding/Funeral Vaccination Requirements Reminder: Effective October 12, 2021, people attending wedding and funeral receptions at meeting or event spaces will be required to show proof of vaccination to gain entry • For the period between September 22 and October 12, 2021 individuals could instead provide a negative rapid antigen COVID-19 test from no more than 48 hours before as an alternative to proof of vaccination
Capacity limits lifted in select settings Capacity limits have been lifted to allow 100 per cent capacity in the following settings: • Concert venues, theatres and cinemas; • Spectator areas of facilities for sports and recreational fitness (would not include gyms, personal training); • Meeting and event spaces (indoor meeting and event spaces will still need to limit capacity to the number that can maintain physical distancing); • Horseracing tracks, car racing tracks, and other similar venues; and • Commercial film and television productions with studio audiences.
Letter of Instruction for Sports/Recreational Facilities Effective 12:01AM on October 31, 2021, owners/operators of facilities where organized sports are practised/played must: • Require each person 12+ who attends the indoor facility for participating in organized sports; coaching, officiating, volunteering; or spectating to show ID and proof of full vaccination • Develop and implement mandatory vaccination policies for facility staff, contractors/sub-contractors, and volunteers • Comply with all other requirements under the Reopening Ontario Act
Additional COVID-19 Preventive Measures for LTCHs • Mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations for all in-home staff, support workers, students and volunteers by November 15, 2021, unless valid medical exemption • Newly hired staff required be fully vaccinated before beginning work, unless valid medical exemption • Random testing of fully vaccinated individuals including staff, caregivers and visitors
COVID-19 Mass Vaccination Clinics Operating hours for both mass clinic locations will remain the same: • Western Fair Agriplex: Thursday to Monday, 11AM-7PM • Caradoc Community Centre (Mount Brydges): Tuesday – Wednesday 9AM-3PM
COVID-19 Vaccine Mobile & Pop-up Clinics • Almost 30,000 doses have been given at 277 mobile clinics as of October 8! • 1st dose school clinics almost complete, heading into 2nd dose school clinics as of October 14 • Over 800 doses have been administered to students during school and to the public at after-school clinics so far – 58% first doses • The Homebound Program is starting to receive more requests. Doses are being provided to eligible individuals in their homes.
Vaccine Receipts and Out of Province Records • All clients at MLHU clinics now receive a paper copy of their receipt at the clinic • Out of province and out of country vaccination record submissions to the MLHU online portal remain very high • Phone lines have been very active with clients calling to request their vaccine receipt. Clients can be directed to the Agriplex for in-person assistance (if required) from Thursdays to Mondays 1PM – 5PM
