September - October 2021 Coordinator Updates The weather is still far too warm for me to believe that we're nearing Fall and soon the end of the year. As many have said- we are still trying to process all that has happened since March 2020, making it hard to believe that we're now 2/3's through 2021! Recently seeing so many of our AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers at the luncheon was a treat for me. So many smiling faces where I was able to put some faces to names after being the voice on the phone or the person behind the computer! I have also enjoyed the return of our "traditional" cookie brigade and having volunteers in the office again. Here's to more fun, safe ways to see each other and volunteer Karen Paulus, together before the end of the year! Program Services -Karen Coordinator Thank you to all who helped make the CSC Olympics booth at Everybody Counts a success--12 students pitched in for a total of nearly 40 volunteer hours to give kids a pool noodle javelin throw, hurdles race, and craft station to make their own Olympic medals. I enjoyed meeting and talking with community members of all ages and listening to all of the good discussions about individual & social health, wellness, and responsibility at the recent Yellow Ribbon Training--thank you for being part of that very important educational exchange. The CSC students, along with groups from Rock Hills Church and the 3rd Battalion, 66th Armored Regiment, G FSC, finished painting over 150 rocks to honor First Responders and all the Emily Vieyra, civilian and military heroes in the midst of the 9/11 Attacks. Volunteer We can’t wait to hide these treasures throughout City Park for Coordinator children to find as part of the Day of Remembrance Family Night activities from 5-7pm on September 10! Hope to see you all very soon! 3 -Emily
