Top moments of 2020
It’s been ‘a year like no other’, with ‘unprecedented’ challenges and a constant need to
‘pivot’. While Queensland’s tourism and events industry is only beginning the long road
to recovery, this week TEQ’s consumer channels have celebrated some of the great
moments the state has experienced this year.

From coral gardening to the return of bushfire-injured animals to the wild,
Queensland’s stunning natural landscapes continued to thrive in 2020.

Good news around the state
In good news for the summer season and beyond, Lizard Island has reopened after a
nine-month closure due to COVID-19 impacts and K’gari (Fraser Island) has also
reopened to visitors this week, with key tourism drawcards Kingfisher Bay Resort, Lake
McKenzie, all southern lakes, Central Station, Pile Valley and all beaches unaffected by
recent bushfires. Thanks to recent rains, there are also already signs of regeneration in
affected rainforest areas.
