Welcome to the Leon’s Centre Thank you for allowing us to introduce you to the Leon’s Centre, the home of the Kingston Frontenac’s and centre for sports and entertainment, situated in the heart of downtown Kingston, Ontario, Canada. We hope the enclosed information addresses any question that you may have about our facility. The policies outlined herein are designed to provide event planners/promoters with the details for efficient utili- zation of the Leon’s Centre in order to create the best event experience. Management ASM Global was formed in October 2019 from the merge of AEG Facilities, the global innovator in live entertainment venues and SMG, the gold standard in event management. ASM Global manages the Le- on’s Centre on behalf of the City of Kingston. ASM Global provides management and consulting ser- vices for arenas, stadiums and convention centres worldwide. ASM Global also manages the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines, the Canalta Centre in Medi- cine Hat AB and the Avenir Centre in Moncton NB!

Our stage can vary in height at any dimension between 4 ft. to 5 ft. We have (101) 4 ft. x 8 ft. stage decks. We also have one ADA compliant handicap ramp and 3 portable stairs, 3 ft. wide, capable of clamping to a stage, all from StageRight as well.

Elevators: The building is equipped with four passen- ger elevators located on each corner of the building. The elevator in the northwest corner has direct access to back of house and is adjacent to the loading dock area Parking: There is adequate parking for (3) three tour buses or (2) two transport truck outside the loading dock on the north side of the building. In addition, King Street, between Barrack and Place D’Armes may be closed upon request to accommodate additional show vehicles pending advance approv- al from the City of Kingston. There is a $335.70 fee to close King Street for park- ing purposes for the day. If further parking is required, please advise event manager a minimum of 2 weeks prior to arrival to make special arrangements. Please refer to venue parking map on p. 10. There is no parking in fire lane. Warning - Idling is not prohibited around our building at any time.
Forklift: The arena has one propane powered forklift with 6ft. extensions. Its maximum load capacity is 5000 lbs., and its maximum working height is 14 ft. Additional forklift rent- als can be added, please request from the event manager minimum of 2 weeks prior to make arrangement for a fee. Scissor Lift: The arena has a JLG 35 ft. high scissor lift, which can reach the top of the video boards on the score clock. Please note that our low steel is 45 ft. and our scissor lift will not reach.
Ice Resurfacing: The area has (1) one propane powered Zam- boni model 525 and (1) one propane pow- ered Zamboni model 520, and one electric powered Zamboni Power edger. HVAC: The Leon’s Centre has a state of the art HVAC system that creates a comfortable environment for fans and performers in all weather conditions. Any specific temperature requirement should be brought to the atten- tion of the event manager. House Lights House Lighting: House lights are controlled via the Com- mand Centre within the building. Com- munication is required via radio or Clear Com to establish lighting. Bowl lighting is LED and dimmable. Lights are all pre-programmed with basic scenic ele- ments.
Spot Lights: The Leon’s Centre has (4) four Lycian 3K Followspots in static locations at the east end of the bowl. Assisted Listening Devices: Venue comes equipped with portable assisted listening devices. Please note that show is accountable for tying into house system, if required. House Clear-Com: The Leon’s Centre has an in-house Clear-Com communication system with stations in the spotlight locations on the catwalk, the Zamboni vomitory at the west end of the are- na, the AV room located on the 4th floor and at the penalty box, located at centre ice on the arena floor. Venue is equipped with 6 (six) Belt packs and 6 (six) headsets.
Electrical Power: Primary event power is located back of house, on the west end of the building, north of the Zamboni vomitory. We have (3) 400 amp services and (1) 200 amp service available. Please Note: • You must supply your own cables for tie-in. • Distribution Panels and feeder cables can be rented for tradeshows • Electrician is required to be onsite for load in, show call and load out Shore Power: We have (2) 60 amp services available for shore power, located on the north side of the building (Place D’ Armes). In addition, we have (5) 40 amp services available for shore power located on the west end of the building just inside the loading bay door. These 40 amp services pull from our main show power supply. Note that an electrician must be onsite to connect Shore Power on King Street access.
Pyrotechnics/Special Effects: Leon’s Centre requires advanced notification of all special effects/pyrotechnics. At least one month prior to your event please forward necessary approvals and permits to the Event Manager. This is in accordance with the by-laws and regulations of the City of Kingston Fire Pre- vention office and the Province of Ontario. Rigging Information: Distance from centre floor to the roof high steel is 58 ft. Distance from floor to the low steel is 45 ft. Total rigging weight for an end stage and centre stage configuration is 90,000 lbs. Rigging weight for a theatre configuration is 65,000 lbs. All structural steel is divided into 10 ft. x 10 ft. bays. Leon’s Centre rigging plans are available from the venue upon request. Please pay special attention to Crow’s Nests and Score Clock when rigging. Score Clock Information: The structure’s overall size is 15 ft. in diameter at the top, 12 ft. in diameter at the bottom, and 13 ft. high and weighs approximately 6,500 lbs and is situation at center ice. The Daktronics scoreboard section is 10 ft. x 2.5 ft. on each. The Daktronics video screen is 15 ft. wide x 6.5 ft. high.
