Public Holiday Bin Services No collection on Christmas Day and New Years Day. Both fall on Friday, so if your bin is normally collected on a Friday, it will be collected the following day. Monday collections will remain the same. Collections change for two weeks only during the Christmas/New Year period. What goes in the Recycling bin? (COLLECTED FORTNIGHTLY) The waste collected in your yellow topped Recycle bin is taken to the Regional Resource Recovery Centre in Canning Vale where items are sorted and 85% of the contents separated into different waste streams. Improve of your yellow the rates of recovery by preventing forms of bin is recovered contaminants entering into your Recycling bin. What goes in the General Waste bin? (COLLECTED FORTNIGHTLY) Your General Waste bin is collected fortnightly and sent to the SUEZ transfer station in Bibra Lake. The General Waste bin is for all items that cannot be composted or recycled. Waste from your General Waste bin is sent to landfill. Your General Waste Bin is for: ✔ Nappies and hygiene products ✔ Soft plastics and packaging (bread bags, chip packets, lolly wrappers) ✔ Polystyrene ✔ All meat trays ✔ All coffee cups and coffee pods ✔ Long life cartons (tetrapaks) These items don’t belong in this bin: NO aerosol cans NO batteries or NO food waste NO garden waste NO recyclables or gas bottles electronic waste Some items can be harmful and dangerous causing fires and explosions in waste trucks. Fremantle Recycling Centre The Town of East Fremantle has partnered with the City of Fremantle to allow all East Fremantle residents to access the Fremantle Recycle Centre, free of charge. To access the facility please bring photo ID showing your residential address (e.g. driver’s licence) with your rates notice or a bill. To drop off unrecyclable Bulk Waste, remember your Fremantle Recycle voucher letter. The Fremantle Recycle Centre is located on Montreal Street in Fremantle, opposite the golf course. Opening times: • The standard opening hours for the Fremantle Recycle Centre are listed below, however please check online at fremantle.wa.gov.au or call the City of Fremantle on 1300 693 736 for current operating times. • Friday 12 noon-4pm • Saturday and Sunday 8am-4pm, excluding public holidays

MEDICAL WASTE Medical or biohazardous waste should never be put in any bin. Please check with your health care provider as to the correct method for disposal or visit healthengine.com.au/interest/sharps-disposal-service/WA/ SOFT, FLEXIBLE PLASTICS Please collect your soft plastics such as plastic bags, bread bags, plastic wrappers separately and drop them in a REDcycle bin located at Coles and Woolworths supermarkets. Soft plastics are recycled into plastic park furniture, fencing, decking, bollards and more. They can also be harmful to staff at the waste processing facility if they are not disposed of correctly.
