Workshop Objective Tax and immigration are critical areas which demand attention for global companies which move talent around the world, whether on short-term or long term assignments. Non-compliance with tax and immigration laws can be costly to employers in view of severe fines, penalties and administration costs, in addition to potential reputational damage to companies and undue stress to international assignees. A more proactive approach to advance planning for international assignees helps a company effectively to reduce related risks and costs. Our two experienced speakers will share with you the tax/immigration issues associated with international assignees who are on short term or long term assignment to Malaysia. Speaker’s Profile Ms Wee Chong Eng Director of Global Mobility Services (GMS) Practice, Malaysia Chong Eng has more than 20 years of tax experience in providing Malaysian personal tax compliance and advisory services to local as well as multinational companies. Apart from her experience in tax compliance for local individuals, expatriates, Chong Eng has been involved in personal tax planning, restructuring of remuneration packages and advisory services for individuals, both locals and expatriates. She has also advised clients on share scheme, tax reimbursements policies, payroll compliance review as well as due diligence. She also conducted workshops, both internally and externally to clients. Ms Janet Chua Associate Director of Global Mobility Services (GMS) Practice, Malaysia Janet has been with GMS Practice for more than 20 years. Her experience includes provision of immigration service and work permit applications including liaising with the Immigration Department, Malaysian personal tax compliance and advisory on employer tax related issues. Facilitator’s Profile Fong Chooi Lian Director of Global Mobility Services (GMS) Practice, Malaysia Chooi Lian has more than 20 years of experience in Malaysian personal tax for inbound and outbound assignees of local and foreign multinational companies which are involved in banking, manufacturing, trading, investment holding and etc. Her experience includes advisory assignments relating to employee’s secondment overseas, tax equalization policy, employees share scheme, restructuring of remuneration packages, payroll compliance review. She also conducts in-house tax training as well as tax briefings to clients.
