CLAYMONT DUAL LANGUAGE IMMERSION HIGHLIGHTS
❖ Rich bilingual culture is evident throughout Claymont due to whole
 school participation in aspects of the Immersion Program.

 ■ Increase in Spanish speaking staff to support family engagement
❖ Roller Coaster Model has allowed for daily English & Spanish
 instruction in ELA, Math, Science & Social Studies.
❖ Majority of grade 5 students are bi-literate and able to communicate
 verbally and in writing with native speakers in school & community.

Immersion Continuation Model
Students will have the traditional BSD middle school class
schedule - Tendrán un horario tradicional para la secundaria
 ● Some electives are only semester long, the rest are year long
 ● Both immersion classes are year long.
Immersion classes will take place in:
 •Spanish Language Arts (SLA)/ Literatura
 •Social Studies / Estudios Sociales (following the traditional State of
 DE and BSD curriculum in Social Studies)
