Nau mai, Haere mai! TūWHARETOA MĀORI TRUST BOARD SUMMER INTERNSHIP We are inviting applications from our Tūwharetoa tertiary students for our summer internship programme.
Our core role is to administer Taupō Waters (Lake Taupō and its tributaries) on behalf of Ngāti Tūwharetoa. We are committed to maintaining and enhancing the health and wellbeing of Taupō Waters, and enabling Ngāti Tūwharetoa to achieve our social, cultural, environmental and economic aspirations. The Tūwharetoa summer internship programme runs for approximately eight weeks between November and February (dates can be negotiated). The successful applicants will work across our offices in Tūrangi, Taupō and Tokaanu. Our summer internship programme is an extension of our commitment to the education and training of our people. This is a great opportunity for one lucky student to gain insight and understanding of working with our people on our Moana and Awa. PURPOSE OF THE INTERNSHIP To provide an opportunity for talented Ngāti Tūwharetoa students to put their field of study into practice. SELECTION CRITERIA We’re looking for a dynamic and confident Tūwharetoa student who wants to gain experience and insight into working for Ngāti Tūwharetoa alongside the natural resources team. You will be: • Currently engaged in a tertiary programme of study, or other career development programme, preferably related to resource/environmental management. • Looking to contribute to your whānau, marae, hapū and iwi. • An excellent communicator and comfortable speaking to a broad range of audiences. You must have: • An understanding of Te Ao Māori • Research skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications • A strong work ethic and professionalism • Opinions and ideas that you are willing to share • Willingness to learn and contribute to a wide variety of work Please Note: If your application is successful, you’ll need to complete a pre-employment form and provide contact details for two referees. 2
