Worship Service Prelude Welcome and Announcements Pastor Nathan Ministry Minute Phill Thomas Youth Director Call to Worship Revelation 2:4-11 *Gathering Hymn Holy, Holy, Holy #87 Confession of Faith The Apostles’ Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended to hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic* church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. *that is, the true Christian church of all times and all places Confession of Sin from Psalm 51 Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the greatness of Your compassion, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against You, You only, I have sinned, and done what is evil in Your sight, so that You are justified when You speak, and blameless when You judge. Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me...Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow...Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your Please turn off or silence your cell phone. Every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.” 10 And the crowds asked him, “What then shall we do?” 11 And he answered them, “Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.” 12 Tax collectors also came to be baptized and said to him, “Teacher, what shall we do?”13 And he said to them, “Collect no more than you are authorized to do.”14 Soldiers also asked him, “And we, what shall we do?” And he said to them, “Do not extort money from anyone by threats or by false accusation, and be content with your wages.” [Children ages 4-2nd grade are dismissed for Wonders of Worship (Children’s Church) with Dave & Joyella Stafford} Shepherding Prayer Elder Michael Anderson Offertory Gracious Spirit, Dwell with Me Choir arr. by K Lee Scott Receiving of Tithes and Offerings Sermon “Fire and Brimstone” Pastor Barry *Hymn of Response Praise Team I’ll Fly Away Albert E. Focus on Missions Center for Pregnancy Concerns Because we just marked the anniversary of Roe v Wade last week, it is appropriate to focus on the missions that we support that minister to those who struggle with unwanted pregnancies and their challenges. This week we will look at Baltimore’s Center for Pregnancy Concerns, a nondenominational, Christian nonprofit, pro -life pregnancy resource organization. The Center was founded in 1980 for the purpose of providing women facing an unplanned pregnancy with a place to explore their options in a non- threatening, comfortable, loving environment. They are dedicated to showing the love of Jesus Christ in all they do. Their mission is to protect the physical, emotional and spiritual lives of women and their unborn children. They offer a variety of services, including self -pregnancy testing, sonograms, confidential counseling, a 24-hour helpline, comprehensive referrals to healthcare, shelters, adoption agencies, and more, and material assistance, all of which are entirely free. They have centers in Baltimore, Essex, Dundalk, and Arbutus; and they are hoping to open a fifth center next to Planned Parenthood in downtown soon (your assistance with that would be helpful in opening it sooner!). Prayer Requests: Join CPC in thanking God for the past year of wonderful service to around 1000 clients. Pray for both clients and those who help them in dealing with the challenges of unwanted pregnancies. Pray for the rapid rehabilitation of the over 100-year-old building next to Planned Parenthood in downtown Baltimore that will become a strategic new pregnancy center. 9
The Center for Pregnancy Concerns Currently has four locations in the Baltimore area and is hoping to open a fifth center downtown next to Planned Parenthood (need help to get it opened). Provides free pregnancy tests, sonograms, a 24 hour helpline and counseling for both fathers and mothers. See their website http://pregnantandneedhelp.org/ for more information 10
