Sunday, April 2nd, 2023 “Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together!” Psalm 34:3 Order of Worship and Lyrics Central Presbyterian Church www.centralpresb.org Sunday April 2, 2023
Welcome/Call to Worship Hymn: “Hosanna, Loud Hosanna” Hosanna, loud hosanna, the little children sang; Through pillared court and temple the lovely anthem rang. To Jesus, who had blessed them, close folded to His breast, The children sang their praises, the simplest and the best. From Olivet they followed among the joyful crowd; The victory palm branch waving with praises clear and loud. The Lord of earth and heaven rode on in lowly state, Nor scorned that little children should on His bidding wait. "Hosanna in the highest!" that ancient song we sing, For Christ is our Redeemer, the Lord of heaven, our King, Oh, may we ever praise Him with heart and life and voice, And in His blissful presence eternally rejoice! Confession of Faith: The Apostles’ Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth: And in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, su ered under Pontius Pilate, was cruci ed, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Gloria Patri: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen. Praise Song: Magni cent, Marvelous, Matchless Love Magni cent, marvelous, matchless love; too vast and astounding to tell Forever existing in worlds above, now o ered and given to all. Oh, fountain of beauty eternal; the Father, the Spirit, the Son. Su cient and endlessly generous, magni cent, marvelous, matchless love. Creation is brimming with thankfulness, the mountains, exultant they stand; The seasons rejoice in Your faithfulness, all life is sustained by Your hand. You crown every meadow with color; You paint every shade in the sky; Each day the dawn wakes as an encore of magni cent, marvelous, matchless love. How great, how sure; His love endures forevermore. Magni cent, marvelous, matchless love. What grace, that You entered our brokenness; You came in the fullness of time How far we had fallen from righteousness, but not from the mercies of Christ. Your cross is our door to redemption; Your death is our fullness of life. That day, how forgiveness owed as a ood: magni cent, marvelous, matchless love. United in Your resurrection, You lift us to in nite heights. Could anything sever or take us from magni cent, marvelous, matchless love Unison Reading: John 12:12-16 “The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel! And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written, Fear not, daughter of Zion; Central Presbyterian Church www.centralpresb.org Sunday April 2, 2023 ff fi fi fi fi fi fi fl ffi fl fi fi
behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt! 16 His disciples did not understand these things at rst, but when Jesus was glori ed, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and had been done to him.” Pastoral Prayer and Lord’s Prayer: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen. Sermon: “The King of Glory” Randy Jenkins Scripture: Psalm 24 Hymn: O Worship the King O worship the King all-glorious above, and gratefully sing His wonderful love: Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days, pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise. O tell of His might O sing of His grace, whose robe is the light, whose canopy space. His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form, and dark is His path on the wings of the storm. Thy bountiful care, what tongue can recite? It breathes in the air, it shines in the light; it streams from the hills, it descends to the plain, and sweetly distills in the dew and the rain. Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail, In Thee do we trust, nor nd Thee to fail. Thy mercies, how tender, how rm to the end, Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend!
