CANADA: THE WORLDS FAVOURITE COUNTRY Welcome to the home of ice hockey, the Rocky Mountains, maple syrup, Niagara Falls and... Justin Bieber. Canada is the second largest country in the world and holds global treasures as well as a vast array of hidden gems. It’s a country steeped in history and rich in culture and whether it’s your first time visiting or your tenth, it will never fail to amaze you. You will simply be blown away by the rugged good looks of Canada. Its vast landscapes show nature at its very best. It has the Rocky Mountain Range, national parks the size of small countries, fresh-water lakes the size of big countries, wildlife galore, picture perfect beaches and beautiful weather to match the seasons all year round. On top of that it has some of the best adventure roadtrips you could ever ask for. Head towards the west coast and you will find the national treasures of Banff, Jasper, Whistler, Vancouver and Calgary as well as adrenaline activities that can match the expectations of even the most daring adventurers. MEET LIAM Liam is one of the Smaller Earth’s adventurers. He’s been, seen and done it all when it comes to travelling North America. We interviewed him to find out more about his adventures. “ There are a lot of good people in the world, especially in Canada ” Why would you choose to go to Canada? Looking back on my own travels, I just think Canada is the most beautiful, incredible country. I spent time there and in America and people always seem to tie the two together, but for me they are nothing alike. Canada 100% has a more laidback lifestyle and the sense of adventure and the activities on offer in Canada are just on the next level, for me. Plus, it really gives you a choice; it is home to some of the most amazing locations. Depending on what time of year it is, the weather is perfect too, you’ve got the snow if you like to ski, you’ve got the heat if you like to be outdoors in shorts and t-shirt, and it is just such a friendly place. It has everything and that is why I would pick it. You’ve obviously been yourself, what is your Canadian story? I was actually born on the West Coast of Canada and my earliest memories are from Canada. Although we moved back to the U.K when I started school I’ve still that little bit extra. I think people make every country found myself back in Canada around 7/8 more times. I’ve special but it’s true how friendly Canadians are. APPLICATION PROCESS The summer camp in Canada programme is designed to make the process of working in Canada far easier for YOU. Your first step to start the journey is to simply begin an online application via our Smaller Earth website. At this stage we need to know basic information such as your background, experience and availability. The next step is to pay the £49 programme deposit and organise your eligibility interview. The eligibility interview is a short informal call with our team so we can get to know you more and find out your preferences. Once your interview is complete and you’re accepted onto the program you’ll have to complete the partner form and references. (If for some reason you’re not accepted onto the program you will receive a refund of your deposit*) Next you will be connected with the placement team in Canada for your second interview. Once you’ve had your second interview with NYQuest you will be asked to pay the first installment of £150 and become visible for Camp Directors. We will then set up your camp director interviews. Once your interviews with camp directors are complete you will be asked to complete the final payment of £200. You will be given access to our Exclusive Facebook Group to meet other summer camp in Canada participants travelling on our programmes. Once the payments and employer contracts are completed you will be able to request flights through the Smaller Earth team and we will book your flights for you. After all this is done we’ll organise your arrival accommodation and onwards travel! * Excluding the £5 administration fee 28
