Community A new Mayor for Spelthorne Cllr Ian Harvey was elected as the new Mayor for Spelthorne at the Annual Council Meeting on 27 May. Cllr Susan Doran was elected as Deputy Mayor. Annual Report 2020/2021 Cleaner Greener Spelthorne: CLEANER Climate Emergency in GREENER Spelthorne SPELTHORNE At the end of last year, Spelthorne Borough Council declared a Climate Emergency and has joined a growing number of authorities that have adopted a carbon-neutral target. By declaring a Climate Emergency, the Council is publicly prioritising this issue and acknowledging that a great effort must be made locally and nationally to reduce the effects of climate change. Across the Council’s services, all strategic decisions, budgets and approaches to planning decisions will be aligned with the goal of reducing carbon emissions.
