Young SVP (name on Vsware: Social, Personal and Health Education)
The Young SVP programme is a programme which focuses in on social action within the ethos
and mission of SVP.
Through the Young SVP programme students will be given opportunities to take on social
actions about issues that concern them, their peers and their community.
They will be learning more about SVP and social issues that affect young people and people in
the community
Students will learn leadership skills.
They will learn how to work as part of a team and gain experience in partaking and leading
meetings.
They will learn how to organize and run different social initiatives to raise awareness about
various social issues and raise money for various local and national charities and groups.
We work with Debbie, the Education Officer on a regular basis.
She will do workshops about social issues, fundraising and initiatives in the community that
help people who are living in poverty or who need extra support.
Within the school we run initiatives for different year groups such as film days, Be Kind
campaigns and Wear Red to School Days.
SVP is a great opportunity for students to involve themselves in something that will allow them
to be innovative, creative and proactive in helping people both in the school and the wider
community.

TY Performing Arts Module                         (Name on Vsware: Performing Arts – Dance)

This hands-on performing arts course offers an opportunity to discover your performing skills.
Learn to work collaboratively with other creative individuals. Display your talents and discover
your strengths. Students will work in various areas such as Music, Acting and Dance.
The key skills developed from this performing arts module include:
· Self-confidence
· Self-presentation
· Teamwork and cooperation
· Time management and organizational skills
· Self-awareness

Future Leaders Transition Year Programme
(Name on Vsware: Leadership Skills)
The “Future Leaders Transition Year Programme” is a joint initiative from the GAA and the
Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST). It is a cross-curricular programme
comprising of a series of modules designed to encourage maturity, initiative, responsibility and
leadership skills in pupils. The Programme gives pupils the knowledge and skills to support all
roles required in the effective staging of Gaelic Games. As part of the Programme students are
challenged to organise and run both on-field and off-field events for younger students.

Course Structure:
The programme consists of 7 Modules.

Once the Overview Module is completed, the other modules are released.
The modules vary in length, in general they are 6 – 10 hours long.
Each module is stand alone and individually certifiable.
A school can choose to deliver one or more modules.

Pupils will receive an e-Certificate for each completed module.

TY Mindful Mosaics 2020-2021
(Name on Vsware: Crafts and Design)

Overview:

The craft tradition of Mosaic artwork has been around since ancient Greek times. In this course you will
develop the basic techniques to complete an individual mosaic artwork based on the stained glass
artwork of Irish Artist Harry Clarke. This creative class will enable you to express your creativity & have
fun!

What are we going to do this year in class?

    Research
•   Explore the theme, the artworks of the Irish artist Harry Clarke, through mind-mapping, drawing &
       rendering
   •   Develop design ideas using the design process & digital applications
   •   Create a final design proposal based on the works of Harry Clarke
   •   Write an evaluation of the project process
   •   Complete research portfolio.

   Actions

   •   Explore skills & techniques of craft of Mosaic Art
   •   Complete sourcing, ordering & purchasing of materials
   •   Create A3 Mosaic Artwork, based on the works of Harry Clarke
   •   Understand & employ S.O.P & health & safety practices
   •
What do we want to achieve?

   •   to respond visually to the theme
   •   to develop our understanding, knowledge & appreciation of the artist Harry Clarke
   •   to develop our capacity to use artistic processes, skills & techniques
   •   to extend our technical skills in art, craft & design
   •   to Create a Mural Mosaic artwork based on the theme
   •   Utilize recycled materials, including tiles, crockery & glass & to be more mindful of our environment by
       recycling materials
   •   Have fun in creating our unique Artwork.
   •   To complete our Artwork on time

DCG      (Name on Vsware: Design and Communication Graphics)

This course will build on some of the skills acquired in Technical Graphics in JC and give an
introduction to the Leaving Cert subject DCG.

Assessment for LC DCG
60% Drawing Exam

40% Solidworks CAD Assignment, Computer based design project, 3D Modelling.
