Faculty Leader Erin Mordecai, who joined the biology department at Stanford as an assistant professor in January of 2015, studies the ecology and evolution of infectious diseases in human and wild systems such as malar- ia, dengue fever and Zika, as well as fungal pathogens in grasses in California. Her re- search interests revolve around how envi- ronmental change affects infectious disease, particularly the impacts of climate change, deforestation, human activities and invasive species on mosquito-borne disease and dis- ease in plants and wildlife. Her research com- bines mathematical modeling and empirical work.
