Dear Parishioners, How does Jesus resist the devil? He uses the Sacred Scripture! Jesus came to share his life with us; he did not come to amass worldly goods and power. He did not take his status as the Son of God, to obtain privileges and take advantage of others. He came to teach us the joy of service. Temptations will be with us up to our last dying breath. Temptations normally present themselves as something good. We can be easily deceived for the devil always uses deception and cunning tricks. He can appear very charming, even with an “angelic face.” He is the Master of Disguises. Many times we justify ourselves. I may have given in to my instincts, but I am not hurting anyone. Jesus never makes an agreement with evil. He uses the Word of God as his defense. Let’s follow the way of the saints, St. Therese once said, “When the devil has succeeded in keeping a soul from Holy Communion, he has gained all his ends...while the Lord weeps.” Icon of the Divine Ascent Let us take time for silence and prayer – just a little. “Don’t let the devil pull you down!” It will do us good. In these spaces let us stop and look at what is stirring in our hearts, our inner truth, and learn how to stay with the grace moving in our hearts. As the psalmist reminds us: “Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46). Let us ask the Blessed Virgin to accompany us on our way of conversion. Fr. . David Sacred Prayer Spaces at St. Andrew Church Monday—Friday - 8 AM Mass, followed by Adora on (Holy Hour) - Wednesdays - Holy Hour 3-5 PM Sta ons of the cross—A er 7 PM Mass on Fridays Sacred Spaces at Home -Reading of Scriptures and Saying the Rosary -Collec ng clothing for Turkey & Syria (Drop off in the Church Hall) -Assis ng St. Vincent dePaul and other Charitable Works.
