Spring 2022 Stritch COVID-19 Health & Safety Protocols, Policies & Procedures Preparations for the start of the Spring 2022 term have begun and this document provides the most updated information on the University’s COVID-19 protocols and procedures. Using the best information available at this time from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the American College Health Association (ACHA), and the North Shore Health Department (NSHD) the following protocols will be in effect immediately and until further notice. We expect that revisions to these protocols may become necessary and every effort will be made to inform the community of changes via the University’s email system, the Stritch Unstopped webpage, and on my.stritch.edu. Mandatory Requirement: COVID-19 Vaccine Declaration Form All students, regardless of degree level and academic delivery, are required to complete the COVID-19 Vaccine Declaration Form. The information collected is used to monitor and report on the vaccination rate of the Stritch community and assists with the budget and planning of supplies, and staffing of the Student Health Clinic. Notice and instructions on how to complete the form will be sent to all student’s Wolfmail on Monday, January 17, with a submission deadline of Friday, February 4, at 5 p.m. Students who have completed the declaration form requirement in the Fall 2021 semester and have indicated that they are fully vaccinated will be asked to provide updated information on boosters received. Students who have applied for a vaccination waiver for the Fall semester are required to once again apply for a waiver for the Spring semester. Students who do not complete the declaration form requirement by the established deadline will be fined and required to undergo surveillance testing until they complete this requirement. Students registered for online classes only are also required to complete the declaration form, but will be removed from the surveillance testing. As noted above, failure to complete the declaration form by the established deadline will result in a fine added directly to the student’s account. COVID-19 Vaccinations All faculty, staff and students are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated for COVID-19. The Student Health Clinic will hold several COVID-19 vaccine clinics throughout the academic year. If interested in getting vaccinated on campus, please email COVIDhealth@stritch.edu to receive information on vaccination dates and/or information on off-campus vaccination sites. Employees and students vaccinated off-campus will be required to share their vaccination information with the University. All non-vaccinated students attending face-to-face classes or using any on-campus services (library, dining services, fieldhouse, etc.) will be tested regularly for COVID-19 during the academic year. Testing will also be made available for any student (vaccinated or non-vaccinated) who is symptomatic. Non-vaccinated students who have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive will need to be tested. Notifications for mandatory testing appointments will be emailed directly to the student. Only students who are fully vaccinated, or have tested positive within the past 90 days will be exempt from regular testing.
Stritch Unstopped Health & Safety Protocols The following information outlines the policies and procedures recommended for all members of the Stritch community with regards to health and safety concerns. Masks/Face Coverings – In order to continue to protect the most vulnerable members of our community, and in alignment with our Franciscan values, Stritch will continue to follow federal, state and local recommendations on masking/face coverings. As of the date of this announcement, all University community members who are not fully vaccinated are required to wear masks/face coverings and maintain physical distance while inside of campus buildings. Masking Recommendations from the CDC • Everyone 2 years or older who is not fully vaccinated should wear a mask in indoor public places. • KN95 or N95 masks are recommended. Masks should properly fit over your nose and mouth and should not have gaps. • In general, you do not need to wear a mask in outdoor settings. • In areas with high numbers of COVID-19 cases, consider wearing a mask in crowded outdoor settings and for activities with close contact with others who are not fully vaccinated. • People who have a condition or are taking medications that weaken their immune system may not be fully protected even if they are fully vaccinated. They should continue to take all precautions recommended for unvaccinated people, including wearing a well-fitted mask, until advised otherwise by their healthcare provider. • If you are fully vaccinated, to maximize protection and prevent possibly spreading COVID-19 to others, wear a mask indoors in public if you are in an area of substantial or high transmission. Stritch IDs – Students are required to have their Stritch IDs visible at all times while on campus. Employees must either have their IDs or University nametag visible at all times. Guests – All University guests must sign in at the Bonaventure Hall Welcome Desk and will be expected to wear masks/face coverings and a Guest Badge while they are on campus. Guests are not allowed in the Clare and Assisi Residence Halls. Cleaning and Disinfecting – Hand sanitizers are located in several public spaces around campus. In addition, all classrooms are equipped with sanitation wipes so that students can disinfect their work area before the start of each class. Additional staff will be on campus during the day to clean and disinfect common areas on campus. Self-Monitor for Symptoms – People with COVID-19 may exhibit a wide range of symptoms that appear anywhere from 2-14 days after being exposed to the Coronavirus. If a student has any of these symptoms, they should be tested for COVID-19 to prevent the spread on campus. Symptoms can include fever or chills; cough or cold-like symptoms; shortness of breath or difficulty breathing; fatigue; muscle or body aches; headache; new loss of taste or smell; nausea or vomiting; diarrhea. Case Investigation and Contact Tracing – If a student tests positive for COVID-19, the student must notify the Student Health Clinic by emailing COVIDhealth@stritch.edu. The Student Health Clinic staff will work with the student to identify those people whom they have had close contact. This includes anyone with whom they have been in close contact (within 6 feet for more than 15 minutes).
Notifications to Supervisors or Human Resources and Case Investigation and Contact Tracing – If an employee begins experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or tests positive for COVID-19, they are required to stay home and inform their supervisor or Human Resources as soon as possible. If notifying a supervisor, the supervisor should let Human Resources know. The Human Resources staff will work with the employee to notify them of required next steps and to identify those people with whom they have had close contact (within 6 feet for more than 15 minutes). If an employee has been identified as someone who has had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, they will be notified and asked several questions. Based on these responses, it will determine if the employee will need to isolate or quarantine.
