WELCOME Spring is upon us and Kingston Libraries is bursting with fun activities for people of all ages to enjoy. This October we will be celebrating the Seniors Festival, and Kingston Libraries is again participating with a wide variety of activities including finance for seniors, games, gardening, author talks, how to downsize and declutter and one not to miss - a literary afternoon with me (see page 4). As always, we are planning a series of talks with great authors, MEET including the very talented Gideon Haigh who’ll be visiting Dingley Village Library in partnership with the Melbourne Writers Festival. For our younger members, the ever-popular Story Lines Writing Competition is on again, plus we are putting on additional spring Storytimes on Saturdays and early evenings. Westall Library also has something to keep young people busy after school with the new GIDEON HAIGH Homework Club for primary school students. There have been plenty of changes in our libraries while we’ve been in and out of lockdowns. If you haven’t already, I would recommend you take the time to visit our refreshed Highett Library or bring the little ones along to Parkdale where you’ll see some exciting changes in the children’s area. Finally, don’t miss out on the chance to meet some of our local feathered friends and Saturday 4 September Gideon Haigh shines light on The Brilliant get ready for the annual Aussie Backyard Bird Count.
