October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month
DVAM 2021 Calendar of Events

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month
This October, we are celebrating the 37th Anniversary of the Family Violence Prevention and Services
Act (FVPSA). For 37 years, FVPSA funding has been an integral part of our nation’s public health
response to domestic violence by providing emergency
shelters, crisis hotlines, prevention programs, resource
centers, specialized services for children exposed to violence,
and a wide range of federal, state, local, and tribal partners
across the United States. Each year, FVPSA-funded state
and tribal programs serve more than 1.3 million survivors and
their dependents and respond to 2.7 million crisis calls. FVPSA’s reach is broad and changes lives.

In observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) 2021, national training and technical
assistance providers funded through FVPSA are hosting a number of public awareness events,
educational webinars, and social media campaigns. Join our partners throughout the month of October,
as they support domestic violence victims, survivors, and their children.
Please review the calendar of events and resources listed below for activities, online toolkits,
educational materials, webinars, social media engagement, and resources that can be shared
nationally. We can all do #1Thing to end the prevalence of domestic violence! Learn more at #1Thing |
