                          Multi-instrumentalist Jimmy Hastings is one of the most respected
                          musicians on the British jazz scene, in-demand for session work and jazz
                          assignments in top bands. He has played for the Humphrey Lyttelton
                          band for almost twenty years and deputises regularly with many of the
                          big bands of today, including; Paul Lacey’s Back to Basie Band, the Syd
                          Lawrence Band, the Echoes of Ellington Band and others.

                          Saxophonist Tom Smith was twice finalist of the BBC Young Jazz Musician
                          of the Year programme in 2014 and 2016. In 2018 Tom won the Peter
                          Whittingham Award for the joyful music of his trio Gecko, featuring Jonny
                          Mansfield (vibes) and Will Barry (piano). Gecko released an album on
                          Basho Records in 2020.

                          Jazz trombonist Mark Bassey has been described as ‘a superb, witty
                          player’ (Dave Gelly). His playing can stretch from the ‘raucous’ (John
                          Fordham) to an ‘exquisite sound and perfect phrasing’ (Brian Blain).
                          Mark is a highly versatile musician who can be heard in many different
                          guises – playing with Alan Barnes, Julian Arguelles, Nikki Iles, recently
                          with Billy Jenkins and the BBC Big Band, and also at Ronnie Scott’s
                          with Liane Carroll.

                          My Iris is an imaginative and thrilling band that represents the front rank

                           Tu-kay & Ryan are an acoustic duo blurring the lines between alt-folk,
                           Americana and roots music. Downtown Roundabout are an upbeat
                           and energetic Americana band who are held together with elements of
                           country and folk music, with a hint of soul. Alex Seel has a beautifully
                           crafted, rootsy, songwriting style with thought-provoking lyrics and a gift
                           for acoustic guitar finger-picking.

                           Sun 13 March
                           The Gillies are an Americana/folk duo from South East London.
                           Their music tells of love, loss, bittersweet and harsh realities. After a
                           lifetime of becoming well-known for his virtuoso guitar skills, Kev Minney
                           turned to singing and songwriting at the age of 30yrs. Paul Alexander
                           Low is a singer and songwriter who recently released his debut album
                           Sunshine after the Rain.

                           Dragonfly Sky + Union Blue + Grand Old Uke of Dork
                           Sun 3 April
                           Dragonfly Sky are an award-winning acoustic harmony duo from Surrey.
                           Union Blue are an acoustic duo playing a wide range of music from blues
                           through country to light rock. Grand Old Uke of Dork are on a journey

arts, in each of our three terms throughout the year. Each one is run by an expert tutor
and held in some of the most professionally-equipped specialist studios in the country.
Our courses have up to ten weekly sessions, whereas workshops usually take place
