Smart India Hackathon 2018 Our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, envisages a Digital India to bridge the digital divide in our country and further promote digital literacy in order to make development a comprehensive mass movement and put governance within everyone’s reach in India. In order to work towards our PM’s vision, MHRD, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Inter Institutional Inclusive Innovation Center (i4C), and Persistent Systems organized Smart India Hackathon 2017, a unique initiative to identify new and disruptive digital technology innovations for solving the challenges faced by our country. The initiative was a huge success. To reiterate the efforts towards our PM’s vision, MHRD, AICTE, i4C, and Persistent Systems is proud to propose the 2nd edition of this initiative – Smart India Hackathon 2018. Till date, 45+ union ministries and departments and 18 state governments have already joined this grand initiative, making it much bigger than the previous edition. Through this initiative, govt. departments will directly engage with thousands of technical students and challenge them to build digital solutions to improve their efficiency, plug revenue leakages and corruption. Smart India Hackathon 2018 is a non-stop digital product development competition, where problems are posed to technology students for innovative solutions. It: Harnesses creativity & expertise of students Sparks institute-level hackathons Builds funnel for ‘Startup India’ campaign Crowdsources solutions for improving governance and quality of life Provides opportunity to citizens to provide innovative solutions to India’s daunting problems Smart India Hackathon 2018 will have 2 sub-editions – Software as well as Hardware: Software Edition will be 36 hour software product development competition, similar in concept to Smart India Hackathon 2017 The new Hardware Edition will be a hackathon where teams will be work for 5 straight days and build their hardware solutions. This competition would be limited to only 5 nodal centers with 20-25 teams each
Smart India Hackathon 2017 Team : DEFENDERS Ministry: ISRO Problem Statement : Multi Factor Authentication for Virtual Private Network Sriram.M (Team Leader),T.K.JeganBabu,R.Ragul,S.Promod,S.Preetham,M. Reshma Kris along with Mentors Ms.C.V.Nisha Angeline(APIT) & S.Shiva Surya– won the First Runner Up in Smart India Hackathon 2017 among 47 Teams participated. A Grand Finale, National Level event conducted on April 01 and 02 (36 Hours Nonstop Programming) conducted in Ahmedabad , they are awarded with cash prize of Rs.75,000 along with internship from ISRO(currently in progress)

Mahesh Arvind.S,Faiz Mohammed Ali,R.ShanMugapriyan,P.P Amrish Kumar, Srivathsan N.D,K.Gokul Karthick along with mentor Mr.M.Thangavel(AP/IT) participated Grand Finale National Level Event held @ Gaziabad, and got 5th place among 54 teams participated Team : EDISON Ministry : Department of Industry Policy and promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry Problem Statement: StartUp India App Version 2.0 R.Harish, M.Muhamed Aashiq, S.S.G.Neelakandan, N.Sankaran, P.Haresh Prasannha, P.Ishwaryah along with mentors Mr.Praveen Kumar.B(AP).Mr.Ganesh.M.A(AP) participated in the Grand Finale conducted in Jaipur College of Engineering, Jaipur Team 4: BIN MAMO Ministry: Ministry of Environment Forest and climate change Problem Statement : Smart Binning in Solid Waste Management Sushmitha Shree.S, Preethi R,Priyadharshini.P, Priyalakshmi S,Persiya Jenifer C, Vasantha Priya A,along with mentors Dr.K.Hariharan, Dr.M.S.K,Manikandan participated in the Grand Finale conducted at SriKrishna college of Engineering & Technology ,Coimbatore
How to participate 1.Select a Problem Statement from the various ministries specified in the website 2. Go to https://innovate.mygov.in/sih2018/ 3.Select a Ministry Eg: Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence 4.Select Problem Statement Eg:Paper-Less Office 5. Derive a solution (idea level) for the same. 5.Fill up the Format Document(Format.dco)containing team details and abstract in our website. 6.Send the filled format to tcesih2018@gmail.com on or before Nov 30th 2017 7. You can submit as many ideas as you want to. 8. If your team is selected you will be asked to come for a review and present your idea. Terms & Conditions – Smart India Hackathon 2018 Eligibility for Student Team Members Eligibility criteria: Technical students from AICTE/ UGC/ IIT/ NIT/other govt. approved institutions. 6 students per team is mandatory (Max. 10 teams per institute allowed). All Team members must be currently studying in same institution. Team members may be from different academic levels. Team members could be from any of the technology streams/MCA/streams like Computer Science, MSc Electronics or equivalent may participate. Once teams have registered, changes in team members will not be encouraged. While selecting between 2 similar ideas, preference will be given to the team with maximum girl members.
