A Warm Welcome 2020 has been a challenging year. The horticulture industry has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, with nurseries and garden centres forced to close, staff furloughed, and the majority of our garden shows and events cancelled with severe consequences for many businesses and self-employed. In response, we are currently helping 20% more people in horticulture than last year and we have developed new ways of reaching out to even more in order to deliver the help and guidance that is so badly needed. We continue to receive enquiries from people who wouldn’t normally be making contact with our helpline but have needed to turn to us during these very difficult times. We expect this to increase, as government furlough schemes, mortgage holidays and other support measures come to an end. How we have helped this year With so many of our fundraising events cancelled, your support this year is particularly invaluable.
