STAGE WHISPERS ACTion Community Theatre Co. in Residence at The Terry O’Toole Theatre CELEBRATING OUR FIFTH ANNIVERSARY! In January, we opened our 5th anniversary season with ‘The Three Musketeers: La Pantomime!’, which played to packed houses and garnered an excellent review from NODA East Midlands [National Operatic & Dramatic Association]. We’ve been keeping this quiet until after panto, but we can now reveal that ACTion will be adapting the classic children’s story The Wolves of Willoughby Chase for our spring 2015 production. Every May, ACTion stages a family-friendly show; we have had great success with productions of other classic stories, including The Railway Children, Tom’s Midnight Garden and The Wind In The Willows, but this year our members wanted to do something really special. Lizza Aiken, daughter of acclaimed children’s author, Joan Aiken, has very kindly granted ACTion special permission to adapt her mother’s most famous book, The Wolves of Willoughby Chase, which is a lively adventure story featuring three feisty children, a wicked governess, a master forger and, of course, the wolves of the title. This will be the first time ACTion has created an original piece of children’s theatre and we are looking forward to staging a fantastic production for our audiences.” The company will follow the May family show with the acclaimed New members are very welcome to come along and try out for comedy-drama Bedroom Farce by Alan Ayckbourn in October a part, or get involved behind the scenes.
