September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when Livingston Parish Library joins the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide to remind parents, caregivers and students that signing up for a library card is the first step on the path to academic achievement and lifelong learning. There is nothing more empowering than signing up for your own library card. Through access to technology, media resources and educational programs, a library card gives students the tools to succeed in the classroom and provides people of all ages opportunities to pursue their dreams and passions. LPL eCards for Student Success Thanks to a partnership with Livingston Parish Public Schools, all Livingston Parish school students, teachers, and educators now have access to digital resources from the library via the LPL eCard program. The eCard grants access to electronic resources provided by the library, including services that offer homework assistance and download eBooks, movies, magazines, and more. To learn more about LPL eCards, visit www.mylpl.info/eCards. How Do I Get a Library Card? This year’s theme is “Libraries Are Wonderful” and features DC’s Wonder Woman as the Library Card Sign-up Month Honorary Chair. There’s no better way to find out how WONDERful libraries really are than by getting your own library card. In addition to visiting your local branch, you can also sign up online for a library card and gain immediate access to the LPL’s digital collection. Existing library cardholders can also renew their card at www.mylpl.info.
