BECOMING DR. RUTH Director’s note… Last year we went up to Dalton, GA to see a play, Becoming Dr. Ruth. It was spectacular: a one-woman play about a woman who had quite a lifetime: she was a Holocaust survivor, a sniper in Israel, a traveler to the U.S. for training and a doctorate; and she ultimately ended up on the radio as the hostess for ten years of a new program, Sexuality Speaking. STAFF BOARD OF DIRECTORS We’ve obtained the exclusive rights to this show for a two-week run at Stage Door Theatre and we are thrilled to share it with you! I was thrilled Grace VandeWaa President, Salus Consulting P.C. when asked to reprise the role of Dr. Ruth Westheimer, a strong, positive, tenacious Education Director woman who remains so to this day. Alison Cash (Stage Manager) Allison Cash is a Dunwoody native. She graduated from Columbus State University in December of 2019 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Design and Technology. She has worked in all areas of theatre, but focuses in stage management. Some of her stage management credits include: The Light in the Piazza, Peter and the Starcatcher, James and the Giant Peach, and two seasons of The Nutcracker with the Columbus Ballet. She received two KC-ACTF Region IV nominations for her stage management of Spring Awakening and The Last Night of Ballyhoo, both at Columbus State. She has been the lighting designer and sound designer for a handful of shows, as well as fly captain. Sandy Ferko (Producer) Followed George as President of Temple Emanu-El and, a few years later, took a while to agree, sixteen years ago, to produce the first of the now seven shows she has worked on with George. The agreement was a birthday present when she didn’t know what else to give him and is now known as ‘the gift that keeps on giving.’ Sandy retired three years ago from Atlanta International School where she served as Head of the 10-member Counseling Department, grades 4K-12, specifically working with students in grades 9-12 as both personal and college counselor and, later, as Alumni Director. Her theater career was short-lived…..a walk-on role in an AIS production and an uninspired role in Temple Emanu-el’s Manny production. She is also a member of Bob’s Broadway Chorus which entertains residents at a number of senior living facilities. In addition to working on the show, she spends much time with her wonderful friends and with grandchildren Royse and Thatcher and their parents, Brant and Jessica who she thanks for her favorite role, Grandma.
