HOT RIGHT NOW Home interiors are forever evolving, reflecting changing times and tastes, writes NATASHA PERERA THINK back to the interior of the home you grew up in. Chances are, it looked somewhat different to the home you’re living in today. Like fashion, interior design is ever evolving, with new and different looks regularly popping up, catching a popularity wave and winning our hearts. So, what does that mean for our homes this year? Here are some predictions from the interiors experts at Porter Davis’ World of Style showroom. MATT-BLACK FINISHES Forget traditional chrome; matt black is set to give your home an edgy look in 2017. “The matt-black finish marks a stylish departure from traditional chrome finishes. It is especially well suited to the aesthetics of contemporary and designer homes,” said World of Style by Porter Davis interior designer Patrizia Romeo. To capture the trend, introduce matt-black tapware to your kitchen or bathroom. It will instantly bring the room up-to-the-minute and add a dash of masculine style. MARBLE For a luxurious finish, you can’t go past marble. Marble and marble-look surfaces have been an interior design favourite for some time and are set to continue their winning streak, but with a twist. “While 2016 introduced calacatta and carrara marble, this year different marble tones and colours will be coming through with stunning natural variations,” Mrs Romeo said. Emerald-green and silver-grey marble would be top picks. “These European-sourced stones exemplify the beautiful elements of nature in an indoor setting, while adding a touch of opulence to benchtops, feature walls and other decor and furniture surfaces,” Mrs Romeo said. RIVIERA 32 BOUTIQUE HOMES A PLACE TO RELAX AND UNWIND TAKE yourself on a trip to the Hamptons when looking through the Riviera 32 by Boutique Homes. From plantation shutters to a blue and white colour palette, it is easy to picture this house by the coast. However the Hamptons style is only one of the many reasons that make this home attractive to buyers. Firstly, the well-zoned floorplan features four bedrooms, three living spaces, two outdoor areas and a private study. Second, the quality features included like Caesarstone benchtops and high-end appliances create a house that will appeal to families looking for something modern yet practical. The first third of the house is dedicated to the adults. The spacious main bedroom retreat has an ensuite with a double vanity separated by a window with plantation shutters just like every other window in the house. While the large vanity area has ample storage and bench space, the shower is what will get your attention. The double shower has not just two but four shower heads and runs the width of the room. A dressing area and walk-in wardrobe with ample hanging, shelf and drawer space will appeal to shopaholics. Accompanying the main bedroom in the front third of the house is a private study and theatre room. The study is ideal for those who work from home while the theatre room provides a relaxing space for parents to retreat to once the kids are in bed. It leads outside to its own covered outdoor area. The centrally located kitchen is the heart of the house. A large island bench with a Caesarstone top caters for a breakfast bar and double sink while a dark blue tiled splashback sits behind the gas cooktop. The kitchen looks out over the adjoining meals area and loungeroom. This area is kept cosy in winter with a gas log fireplace. Glass sliding doors open up and reveal a covered outdoor entertainment area. A third loungeroom is found at the rear of the house, which could be used as the kids playroom and is connected to a hallway which leads to three more bedrooms, all with mirror sliding built-in wardrobes and one with a glass sliding door to the backyard. The main bathroom includes a bath.
