SV's Jessica Esperon-Meneilly wins 1st Place in the NY Beef Council's Best Beef Burger Contest. Every summer Mrs. Esperon-Meneilly looks for in- teresting ways to improve the high school FACS Program through professional development and this summer was no different. While participating in the STEM Beef Experience, sponsored by NY Agriculture in the Classroom and the NY Beef Council, Mrs. Esperon-Meneilly entered into the “Best Beef Burger” contest. According to Mrs. Esperon-Meneilly, her goal was to be “one of the top five finalists.” Entering into this contest comprised of significant recipe testing and editing, as well as, an analysis of the target market, cost, market survey, profit margin, and marketing plan with a social media outreach component. What was created was pure deliciousness enti- tled “Make the Moment Last Burger.” This scrumptious bit of culinary love is made from equal amounts of Delmon- ico and Ground Chuck, smoked gouda, homemade buns (gluten-free and reg- ular) toasted with homemade black garlic aioli, topped with carmelized on- ions, sautéed mushrooms, romaine lettuce, and red tomatoes. Served with a side of zucchini fries. 10
