ROCKING FOR RHINOS 2014 SPONSORSHIP PROPOSAL Heading into the third year, the annual Rocking for Rhinos festival continues to merge conservation, entertainment and the public with one united aim – to SAVE our rhino in a unique and innovative way. By combining opinion influencers such as big bands or entertainers with festival goers, the message is clear in a medium that all backgrounds can understand. Each person’s ticket is their donation to save the Rhino. The poaching of Rhinos in South Africa has reached an all time high with 333 Rhino slaughtered in 2010 and increasing at an alarming rate to 448 in 2011, 2012 numbers hit 668 while 2013 saw 1004 Rhinos f al l. A s of J u n e 20 14 w e a r e a lr e ady o n 4 7 6 R h in os lo st to p o ac hi ng i n S o ut h A f ri c a. The time is now. If we don’t make a change today, this moment, the population of South African Rhinos will be lost forever. There are no more questions, no more ifs or buts. The only question that remains is when they will become extinct. Take a stand today and support us in our quest to make a difference so that future generations will have the privilege of seeing these incredible animals – alive, wild and in their natural environment. Rocking for Rhinos was formed in January 2012 with extremely motivated, passionate and dedicated people, united by one fundamental issue; the now critical plight of our disappearing Rhino population and the war that must be waged against the poachers and ring leaders that are the direct cause of the demise of this gentle creature. Rocking for Rhinos is a registered Non-Profit Organisation (NPO number 137-976) working towards not only the abolishment of Rhino poaching, but also the protection and management of the remaining Rhino population. We are based in Hoedspruit, a small town in Limpopo, surrounded by game farms and in close proximity to the Kruger National Park. Our mission is to do everything in our power to contribute to the fight against rhino poaching. This includes spreading awareness, placing pressure on local authorities and educating as many people as we can in order to create change. We will also raise as much funding as we can to assist the teams on ground zero of this senseless war - Those who risk their lives daily to protect the Rhinos and those who are involved in the capture and prosecution of the perpetrators. FESTIVAL DETAILS The festival will take place on the 26th– 28th September 2014, chosen because of the proximity to World Rhino Day (22nd Sept) and SA Heritage Day (24th Sept). The festival will take place at Franklyn Park on the outskirts of Hoedspruit, which provides ample space for staging, exhibition areas, food & beverage areas, as well accommodation in the form of cam ping zones. It is a secure, closed venue which will be dedicated to the festival for the duration of the event. There are additional accommodation options in close proximity to Franklyn Park which cover all budgets from 5 Star to backpacker’s retreats.
FESTIVALOBJECTIVES Broadly, the focus areas will be: • Raise as much funds as possible from ticket sales • Bring national and world wide awareness to the critical rhino poaching situation • Put pressure on local and foreign players to stop the slaughter • Combine trusted opinion with local talent to get the message across & create long term change • Educate the younger generations who can make a difference • To equip the Anti-poaching teams on the ground • Care for orphaned Rhinos BENEFICIARIES 100 % of the profits raised from ticket sales will be used to assist the following Organizations and projects. ProtrackAnti-Poaching –Rhino Task Team Vince Barkas-0823852690 www.protrackapu.co.za Protrack Rhino Task Team was officially established as a nonprofit company on the 17th July 2013. We realize that there are hundreds, if not thousands of nonprofit company’s all claiming to raise money to protect the Rhino Population of South Africa. So with that in mind, why would we start yet another organization? The explanation to this is quite simple. The founders of the NPC have been operating in the anti-poaching industry for 21 years. Protrack Anti-poaching unit are the oldest and largest private anti-poaching unit in South Africa. Our expertise in this industry can therefore be directly carried forward to our Non Profit Company. We also have the entire infrastructure, the informer network, the mobile reaction and backup, training, management and years of knowledge that one cannot put a price to.
Bongi'sQuest Chris Daniels-072 2035 496 On a different level, Bongi’s Quest is a fun and educational book aimed at children between the ages of 5 – 10. Bongi gives the rhino a name, identity and personality, allowing children to familiarize themselves with this character, giving them a more personal connection to this threatened species and more of a reason to protect the Rhino population as a whole. This book has been translated into many different local languages, and is being distributed to children in both rural and urban communities, thus promoting awareness of Rhino conservation in our youngest generations. Transfrontier Africa acts in its capacity as the Host Agent on behalf of SANParks and accommodates the 26 women and 29 men from the local previously disadvantaged community.
