Horizons for Youth
Horizons for Youth is a safe haven for homeless and at-risk youth between the ages of 16 and 24 in
Toronto. Providing emergency accommodation and support programs for up to 45 residents each day,
our mission is to shelter, prepare and guide them towards achieving wellness and becoming contributing
community members. We offer 24-hour intake services, 365 days a year, to ensure that young people in
need can access a safe place to stay, at any time. Horizons for Youth is more than just a shelter. We offer
several programs for residents that include workshops related to housing, employment, education,
mental health and life skills development. In so doing,
we work to help youth take responsibility for their lives,
make positive choices and equip them with the skills
and information they need to establish a life for
themselves in the community.

Our 17th annual Racing for a Reason event is taking
place on June 12, 2019 at Woodbine Racetrack. As
our largest fundraising initiative, the event will feature
a buffet dinner, a silent auction and raffle, a chance to
watch and bet on the horse races as well as an opportunity to hear inspiring stories from former youth
residents that successfully transitioned out of the shelter system.
Your support through event sponsorship will have a direct impact on facilitating a future of hope and
productive independence for these deserving young people. An investment in our youth today is a direct
investment in a healthier future for all.

Sponsorship Opportunities Racing for a Reason is an opportunity for the community to come together to help these young people leave the streets behind and escape from the cycle of poverty. Funds raised from this event have gone to help people like Alex*, who, at only 11 years old, was removed from his mother’s house due to physical abuse. His teen years were spent bouncing between group homes until he found Horizons for Youth and the support he needed to turn his life around. Our programs helped him improve his mental and physical wellness and plan for his future, which includes attending college to study social work and ultimately, assist people that have faced adversity like him. Last year, 150 guests and volunteers attended the sold-out event and more than $15,000 was raised to support our mental health, housing, employment and education programs. This year, we hope to raise $25,000 to benefit even more young people in need.
