President Kyle Anderson The partnership history of these two Columbus nonprofits dates to 2006 when Vice President Mac Joseph WOSU opened television studios at COSI and the organizations developed the Secretary/Treasurer Betsy Pandora WOSU@COSI kids’ space. The kids’ space on the second floor of COSI is still Board Members popular with hands-on digital media activities and exhibits. QED with Dr. B | Wednesdays at 7:30pm | Starting January 27 QED with Dr. B is a new weekly half-hour TV series that explores how scientific discoveries impact our daily lives. Hosted by Dr. Frederic Bertley (“Dr. B”), president and CEO of COSI, QED with Dr. B talks one-on-one with the scientists, engineers and innovators who are redefining how we interact with our world. Here, it’s Dr. B’s turn to answer some questions and introduce you to this exciting new series coming to WOSU TV this month. Q&A with Dr. B Q: What do you hope our viewers will learn about scientists from QED with Dr. B? Q: What does QED mean? Why is it the title of the new show? A: Scientists are just like everyone else. QED with Dr. B is made possible through the generous support of: Frederic Bertley, Ph.D. President and CEO, Center of Science and Industry (COSI) Dr. Frederic Bertley is a scientist, scholar and evangelist for innovative thinking. After graduating from McGill University where he studied Physiology, Mathematics, the History of Science, and earned a Ph.D. in Immunology, Dr. B worked internationally in preventative medicine and basic vaccines in Haiti, The Sudan and the Canadian Arctic. He continued this focus by joining a vaccine research group at Harvard Medical School focusing on the development of DNA vaccines for HIV/AIDS. Dr. B’s background also includes collaboration on educational and science projects in Egypt, Paraguay, Senegal and the Caribbean. Prior to COSI, he was the SVP of Science and Education at the Franklin Institute. 3
