PROSPECTUS 26th February 2014 1. DATES AND PLACE: 5 - 7 April 2014, Bangkok, Thailand 2. EVENTS: Singles events for girls and boys 3. ELIGIBILITY/AGES: The 2014 Youth Olympic Games Qualification tournament is open to selected players born between 1 January 1996 and 31 December 1999 and being eligible according to IOC and ITTF rules. All participants in the singles events must be eligible to participate in the YOG Nanjing 2014 at the time of completing the registration (15th March). 4. ENTRIES: Each NOC can enter a maximum of ONE BOY AND ONE GIRL for the continental qualification tournaments event to be played in Bangkok and only if there are no players already qualified from this NOC to the YOG 2014. PROSPECTUS 9. REGISTRATIONS: Please fill the entry form and submit to the Competition Manager with copy to the Tournament Director in order to confirm your participation and to book the necessary rooms for players and accompanying persons. Deadline for submitting the Entry Form is 15th March 2014. Please send two copies together with the passport copies of ALL your players. 10. FORMAT OF PLAY: The events will be played in three stages. STAGE 1: Will be played in 4 groups (round robin system) with the top four players advancing to the STAGE 2. Players finishing in the 5th position and after the 5th position in each group will not enter the STAGE 2. STAGE 2: Will be played as a knock-out but without playing the final match. The winners of the two semifinals are QUALIFIERS 1 & 2. The remaining players will advance to STAGE 3. STAGE 3: Will be played as a knock-out but without playing the final match. The winners of the two semifinals are QUALIFIERS 3 & 4. The losers in quarter-finals and semi-finals will play to determine the positions 3, 4, 5 & 6; being then the reserves 1, 2, 3 & 4. The matches to determine the reserves will be as follows: i) Loser in the first quarterfinal will face the loser in the second quarterfinal ii) Loser in the third quarterfinal will face the loser in the fourth quarterfinal iii) Winners of i) and ii) will play for the positions 5th and 6th (reserves 3 and 4) iv) Losers in the semi-finals will play each other for the positions 3 and 4 (reserves 1 & 2) Note: This format of play is subjected to change accordingly if the number of participating players in the Tournament requires so. Decision is to be taken by the ATTU Technical Delegate and ITTF Competition Manager jointly. 11. SEEDING AND DRAWS: STAGE 1 SEEDING Will be based on the last available ITTF ranking with input from the ITTF ranking consultant. The top four seeded players will be placed in position 1 in the groups 1, 2, 3 & 4. Remaining players will be drawn two by two in the groups. STAGE 2 SEEDING i) Winner of the group 1 will be placed in the position 1 of the STAGE 2 MAIN DRAW ii) Winner of the group 2 will be placed in the position 16 of the STAGE 2 MAIN DRAW iii) Winners of the groups 3-4 will be drawn in the positions 8-9 iv) Runners-up in the groups will be drawn in to opposite halves of their group winners, in positions 4, 5, 12 and 13. v) Players in third position in the groups will be drawn in to different quarters of winner and runner-up of their respective groups, in positions 3, 6, 11 and 14. vi) Players in fourth position in the groups will be go to the different quarters of winner and runner-up and third place of their respective groups in positions 2, 7, 10 and 15. PROSPECTUS STAGE 3 SEEDING i) Runners-up in STAGE 2 will be seed 1 & 2 and will be placed in positions 1 and 16 respectively of the STAGE 3 MAIN DRAW. Both will get a BYE in the first round. ii) The two highest ranked players among those losing in quarter-finals will be seed 3= and will be drawn in positions 8 & 9 of the STAGE 3 MAIN DRAW. The remaining quarter-finals losers will be seed 5= iii) The two highest ranked players among those losing in the round of 16 will be the two remaining seed 5=. These four players -ii) and iii)- will be drawn in to the position 4, 5, 12 & 13 iv) The remaining players will be drawn in to the remaining places. If less than 6 players are remaining, byes will be allocated to seed 3= 12. DELEGATES MEETING AND DRAWS: The DELEGATES MEETING will be held on Friday 4th April, at 16:00 hours in the Meeting Room at Alexander Hotel. The FIRST STAGE draws will be done on Friday 4th April, at 17:00 hours in the Meeting Room at Alexander Hotel. The SECOND STAGE draws will be done on Saturday 5th April, 15 minutes after the last match in the FIRST STAGE ends, in the Meeting Room at Fashion Island. The THIRD STAGE draws will be done on Sunday 6th April, 15 minutes after the last match in the SECOND STAGE ends, in the Meeting Room at Fashion Island. 13. PROSPECTUS 15. HOSPITALITY: All participants (players, coaches, doctors, officials and accompanying guests) except referees, umpires and other persons invited by the ITTF have to pay their hospitality costs as follows: Double Room • 4 days package at 320 USD per person and 80 USD per person per extra day. Single Room • 4 days package at 400 USD per person and 100 USD per person per extra day. Cancellation fee: • For cancellations of rooms after 20th March participants and delegation members will be charged with 100 USD per person. 16. VISA REQUIREMENTS: Associations which need an individual invitation letter for their delegation members to obtain Thailand visa should inform the TTAT at their earliest convenience. 17.
