UK – “active” GIF member The UK was among the first countries to join the GIF Signatory of the GIF Charter and the GIF Framework Agreement (in 2005) – but had not ratified the FA. UK R&D teams involved in GIF projects through Euratom (until now) The UK deposited its Instrument of Ratification of the FA on 17 October 2019 The FA entered into force for the UK on 16 January 2019 It consequently signed: The VHTR System Arrangement The SFR System Arrangement 13th GIF / IAEA Interface Meeting – 18-19 March 2019 Slide 6
Turkey’s bid to join GIF Turkey presented its bid to join the GIF at the PG meeting (Oct 2018) GIF Policy Group agreed to review the bid: » Discussions (phone conferences) between GIF and Turkish experts on areas of common interest (mainly MSR, materials, advanced power conversion systems – Brayton cycles) to be organised March/April » GIF delegation Technical visit to TUBITAK in Turkey summer 2019 and report to PG » Decision on Turkey’s bid at the PG meeting in China (17-18 Oct 2019) 13th GIF / IAEA Interface Meeting – 18-19 March 2019 Slide 7

Task Force on Research Infrastructures TOR of the TF approved by the PG in Cape Town (Oct 2017) 1st meeting took place in Feb 2018, hosted by NEA Representatives of GIF systems Representatives of Expert Group / countries Representatives of international organisations: IAEA, OECD NEA Chair: R. Garbil from EURATOM / Co-Chairs: A. Vasile from France and S. Innovation Bootcamp: 19-30 August 2019 at NEA http://nuclearinnovationbootcamp.org/ The 25 selected participants will gain a greater understanding on various topics key to the nuclear industry while nurturing their own project.
