Product Information | Prinect Business 2020 1 From offer to finished hardcover book with Prinect 2020 Producing hardcover books requires work steps and calculation rules uncommon in pure commercial print shops. Prinect 2020 can consider these steps and definitions while calculating the book with the Prinect Business Manager and then hand them over to the Prinect Production system. Get an insight into the extensions of the system - which can handle the more complex workflow requirements of hard cover book production with this video. Some of the enhancements can also be beneficial for commercial printers produc- ing exquisite print products. For a precise and highly automated calculation of hardcover books, the following extensions have been implemented in Prinect Business Manager (MIS): Extended product type preconfiguration (video) Extended folding scheme configuration (video) Adapted and extended automatic estimating process Higher flexibility in creation of process nets by introduction of “Finishing Types” (video) Beside these extensions, that have been developped with the focus for hardcover book production, the following genereic extensions in Prinect 2020 will be used for the hardcover calculation and production as well: o Compeletely revised and massively extended definition and automatic calculation of material consumptions (see chapter 2.2) o Improved support of special pages (like flaps) for automatic identifcation in layout creation and page assignment (see chapter 4.1) o Flexible imposition rules, e.g. to automate and simplyfy the handling of mounting blocks in the Prinect production workflow, triggered by the MIS (see chapter 4.2) A good overview and further details on hardcover book calculation are also available in an overview presentation and in the related training document. Product Information | Prinect Business 2020 1.1 Extended product type preconfiguration (video) Product types can now be defined much more detailled, especially taking into account speical demands for hardcover books like: Flexible assignment of imposition processes individually for each product part (e.g. 1 page per folding scheme) Definition of a calculation type for each product part (e.g. type “caseboard” for the caseboard front) Hardcover-related calculation and correction factors (e.g. increase height of book cover by 2 mm) 1.2 Adapted and extended automatic estimating With the Speed Estimator all product parts as well as the total product will be automatically calculated including precise formats and all required production steps. This also includes the calculation of the book spine, that is taken for the for- mat definition of all related book parts (like the spineboard or the dust cover). Your benefit: Precise cost calculation with less manual work Detailled (automatic) predefinition of production already during estimate reduces touchpoints 1.3 Higher flexibility in the creation of process nets (video) To meet the demands for the production of more complex products, like hardcover books, the flexibility in the creation of process nets has been significantly increased. Now it can be flexibly predefined which product parts should be used for certain Finishing processes when the automatic estimating is executed. Example: Threadstitching of a hardcover book is only related tot he inner book block, the following glueing process also includes the endsheets. Your benefit: Reduced efforts in job preparation and production Higher accuracy in product definition reduces errors in production Copyright © 2019 Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG. Product Information | Prinect Business 2020 2 Extensions and improvements in Prinect Business Manager (MIS) Beside the integrated calculation and production of hardcover books, many other improvements and new features have been implemented in Prinect Business Manager with the target to reduce toucpoints, optimize estimating and material management. An overview presentation and a video summarize the most important news of the latest version Prinect Business Manager 7.21 (incl. the extensions for hardcover book production) 2.1 New calculation of material consumptions Material costs take very often at least half of the total cost of a print job. Beside paper or substrates also other materials like foils or glue can have a high cost value. To support this during the estimating, free definable rules vor a very precise calculation of material consumptions have been introduced with Prinect 2020. A comfortable rule editor using a high amount of predefined variables provides the possibility for each customer to de- fine specific material consumption rules taylormade excactly for his demand. In addition the number of materials sup- ported by each production process has been extended to 6 materials (before just 1 material per process step). Your benefit: Higher accuracy for the calculation of production costs Improved and more efficient material logistics by precisely calculating all required materials for each job. A good overview and further details on the new material consumption calculation is also available in the related training document for hardcover book production. Product Information | Prinect Business 2020 2.2 Extended cutting processes With the new cutting option “Cutting off outer edges” cutting processes can be defined with a higher precision according to the abilities of the Finishing devices of a printshop. Scenario: Printshop uses a folding machines with the ability to cut positions inline Sheets with multiple ups will be delivered to the folding machines and separated inline Demand: In the estimating process a cutting process should be inserted automatically before folding to provide a sheet to the folding machine, where all the gaps (e.g. for color bars, gripper, ect.) have already ben cut off. Result: Folding machine delivers folded sheets in the endformat (already cut to single positions) Your benefit: Higher flexibility in production Optimzed use (automatically) of best production path including inline capabilities of folding machines 2.3 Higher flexibility for the support of printing machines with Cutstar Prinect Business Manager now enables a direct comparison during the estimate of the production costs, working with or without the Cutstar module at the press (and thereby using roll or sheets). This allows the printshop a flexible decision about the use of the Cutstar related to lowest production costs Details on this new feature are also available in the Service Info Prinect Business Manager V7.21 from page 35 Your benefit: Save cost by automatically finding the most profotbale operation mode for Cutstar machines Copyright © 2019 Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG. Product Information | Prinect Business 2020 3 Improved integration of Prinect Business and Prinect Production A crucial success factor for a smart and efficient printshop is the integration between the adminstrative areas (like esti- mating, quoting, material purchase, delivery, etc.) and the production area. Heidelberg fulfills this demand with the seamless integration between Prinect Business and Prinect Production. In Prinect2020 this integration has been optimized and new features have been added. Below we give you an insight on these extensions and how this can reduce touchpoints and manual efforts and also in- crease security in production. 3.1 Improved support of special pages (with Cell Index) The automatic identification of special pages (e.g. flaps) in the Signa Station according to the predefinition in the MIS now enables a precise and automatic layout generation also for products wit special pages Your benefit: Higher automation, reduced manual efforts and less errros Details on this new feature are also available in the Service Info Prinect Business Manager V7.21 from page 19 3.2 Precise predefinition of imposition rules in the MIS To simplify and automate the handling of specialities like PDF files where all pages of a product parts are aggregated in a mounting block, new imposition rules (defined in the MIS) have been introduced. You can flexibly predefine how many pages should be assigned to a foling scheme, separate for each product part Your benefit: Higher flexibility and automation in PDF handling with less manual interactions Details on this new feature are also available in the Service Info Prinect Business Manager V7.21 from page 15 . as well as in a related video. Product Information | Prinect Business 2020 3.3 Increased flexibility in the use of integrated job milestones With Prinect 2019 we have introduced an integrated mile- stone system, enabling the order manager to define in detail all required milestones for a job and transfer and visualize this info automatically in the Prinect production workflow. With Prinect 2020 these milestones can now be defined much earlier, directly after the job has been created in the MIS (in Prinect 2019 this was only possible after the job has been sent to production) Your benefit: Reduces the risk of scheduling conflicts 3.4 Variable definition of sheet names in Prinect Business Manager A fast and easy identification of print sheets at the press console is very important for the printer to avoid any delays and frictions at the job preparation. To fulfil this expectation, we have extended the possibilities to supply all relevant information directly in the sheet name. With a preconfiguration using a flexible tag system, the MIS will already assign relevant info like section number or ver- sion info directly to the sheet name and transfer this info also automatically to the press console. Your benefit: Reduces the danger of wrong assignments at the press and manual efforts for the printer Details on this new feature are also available in the Service Info Prinect Business Manager V7.21 from page 9 . as well as in a related video. 3.5 Further extensions and improvements in Prinect Business Manager in Prinect 2020 Please find below a list of further improvements for Prinect Business Manager in the version 7.21 (Prinect 2020).
