Program Notes We find ourselves in a bag of mixed emotions for this concert: so very glad to be performing the astonishing range of music that’s on the program, and yet kind of sad to end this fabulous season. But we’ll be back in the saddle next fall, never fear. So let’s concentrate on the “glad” part. Which, by the way, is a word that appears in the title of “I Was Glad,” one of several selections in this royalty-themed concert that’s associated with British coronations. But that type of connection is only one of many that shows up. When you’re not actively listening to Welcome to Kings & Queens. Much of this program was originally the music itself, try figuring out how each piece fits into the theme. Some are pretty obvious planned for May, 2020 – we had the music all ready to hand out to (“Dancing Queen,” for example), but some not so much. I’m always amazed at the way our our members – but then Covid got in the way. We are so pleased Artistic Committee puts together these programs, forging unexpected links and opening up new vistas. This evening shows them at the top of their game. to finally be able to bring this repertoire to you tonight! Our selections this evening include music FOR actual royal kings and So I’ve decided to give you a few questions to help you figure out some of the more obscure queens – including pieces played at coronations, royal weddings royalty references.
