Nowhere is this period better described than in Echoes of the Jazz Age, Fitzgerald’s famous essay on the Roaring Twenties. And nowhere is the decade’s remarkable aura more brilliantly evoked than in John Bell and Simon Tedeschi’s performance of the same title, in words and music. Sat 28 Nov Sellers was renowned for his ability to completely transform 2pm & 8pm into his film roles, from Inspector Clouseau to Chance the Gardener. But his talent came at a great personal cost. Caulfield’s one-man play exploits the theatricality of Sellers’ chameleon art, to unmask the man through a gallery of his most memorable characters, including favourite voices from The Goons. Writer & Performer CARL CAULFIELD Being Sellers premiered at The Playhouse in 1998, before going on to seasons in Geelong and at the Edinburgh Director Fringe, where it was spotted for a London transfer. It was JONATHAN BIGGINS produced in London in 2010, in a production starring British Duration actor David Boyle, which transferred to New York at the 70mins (no interval) 59E59 Theater as part of Brits Off Broadway.
