Program 1st September, Wednesday How to create an inclusive space for citizen engagement What happens: We will visit different innovators in Berlin (Wedding) and engage in discussion circling around the topic of the day “ inclusive spaces for citizen engagement”. We are planning to enable virtual participation at some points. September 1st 2021 Meeting Point: Baumhaus, Gerichtstraße 23, 13347 Berlin Host: agrathaer & ZALF 9:30 am arrival, registration, breakfast snack & drinks 10-10:30 am Welcome and guidance for the day 11 am – 5pm Citizen Driven Food Projects in the Neighbourhood 11 am -12am Community Garden Himmelbeet: How to engage the neighbourhood and the issue of land? Visits to and discussions with community garden Himmelbeet + a representative of the Berlin Public administration 12am-1pm Berlin Food Policy Council: How to engage with and empower different societal groups - Discussion with the Berlin Food Policy Council 1-2 pm Lunch Break at Himmelbeet 2pm-3pm Yeşil Çember: How to engage with and empower different societal groups - Discussion with Environmental Association Yeşil Çember for the Turkish speaking community in Berlin Transfer from Himmelbeet to Osramhöfe 4pm-5pm SuperCoop: How to engage the local community in a supermarket - Visit, discussion and activity at SuperCoop, a community-owned and community lead supermarket 5pm-open Visit and Dinner at Vagabund Brewery Space for reflections and chats 2nd September, Thursday How to organize a food hub (LebensMittelPunkt) by & for neighbours What happens: We will spend the day in Baumhaus project space (hybrid format) to continue the discussion and learn about the food hub prototype by engaging in hands-on-activities. 11 am – 5pm Discussions & Training 11 am -1pm How to take the next step: Either space for open exchange around themes and ideas from participants or presentation about Baumhaus project, depending on participants interests 1-2 pm Lunch Break at Baumhaus 2pm-4pm How to run the action at Baumhaus: Training for how to organize the citizen food hub initiative, the food delivery and distribution, community cooking and the social networking Break 5pm-10pm Community Networking Night: Together, we will run the weekly food hub prototype action in Baumhaus, from CSA boxes to community dinner and open greeting zone. 3rd September, Friday Berlin FAL FoodSHIFT Regional Kick-Off - Day 1 What happens: After establishing the Berlin FAL we are finally ready to host an official kick-off event to introduce the FoodSHIFT2030 project, the project partners, and Berlin’s actions to a wider public. The event will last 3 days, from Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th. While the weekend will be in German, targeted towards local actors. Friday will be in English, hybrid format - and we warmly invite you to join & help us to explain FoodSHIFT 2030 to Berlin. Also, there will be plenty of time to connect with active citizens/ innovators from our network. September 3rd 2021 Meeting Point: Baumhaus, Gerichtstraße 23, 13347 Berlin Hosts: Berlin FAL 10 am arrival, registration, meet and greet 11am-12am Welcome, Introduction to FoodSHIFT2030 - What is FoodSHIFT about? - How does FoodSHIFT work? - Who are some of the actors/FALS? 12am-1pm Presentation of FoodSHIFT2030 Berlin FAL - History, Developments, Goals - What do we plan to do until the end of 2023? - How do we invite local actors and active citizens to join? 1-3pm big lunch break 3-5pm Feedback, Ideas and Discussion with Stakeholders We invite local stakeholders (e.g. the regional Food Policy Council) + YOU + all event participants to comment on our presentation, share feedback and ideas for collaborations. 5-6pm Outro (end of the public event) Space for informal conversations and FAL2FAL exchange 6-8pm FAL Dinner End of Berlin FAL Event / 3

In the Baumhaus project space, people and projects from a broad variety of backgrounds and industries come together to take action. Together with its broad network, the Baumhaus team supports local initiatives, social businesses and organisations with space, events, workshops and creative design services for sustainable solutions. The Baumhaus is run by its co-founders Scott & Karen. The venue is located in the up and coming neighbourhood Wedding, in the north of the district of Berlin Mitte. The venue is well connected to the public transportation system and next to a beautiful green area/footpath along the small Panke canal. Some nice cafés and bars as well. Best way to get around is by bike, it’s 5min to the himmelbeet community garden, 15min to Friedrichstr., 20min to Brandenburg Gate and 25min to Alexanderplatz.. Directions & Public Transportation Address Baumhaus: Gerichtstr. 23 front building, 13347 Berlin Bike: All the project sites we will visit during the Berlin event are closely located to each other. The best way to get around is by bike. Therefore we plan to rent bikes for all 4
guests for the duration of 3 days. A link for booking the bike is integrated in the registration form. (5min) U Reinickendorfer Straße (U6), walk up the footpath alongside the Panke canal (9min) S Humboldthain (S1/2), walk down Hochstraße, then turn right on Gerichtstr. However, feel free to organize your accommodation on your own. For safety reasons, we would appreciate it if you are either fully vaccinated or recovered. If this is not the case with you, please get tested on a daily basis. We will provide self-tests for free at the sites. In general, we try to organise all events as safe as possible. This means we strictly follow the current rules, with regard to distances between people, wearing masks, testing etc. Regarding Covid-19, the current situation is dynamic with rising numbers, but rather under control.
