POST TITLE Senior Rowing Coach S RESPONSIBLE TO Head of Rowing MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB To coach the Senior rowers, working with the HOR to implement the Lady Eleanor Holles Boat Club (LEHBC) programme, following the LEHBC technical model. To prepare crews to perform at the highest national level, and to achieve international selection. Responsible for the transportation of boats and equipment to rowing training and events. The aim of LEHBC is to provide a safe supportive environment, where girls of all ability levels and experience can master rowing to the fullest extent. SAFEGUARDING STATEMENT All staff working in the School will have some contact with children and will therefore be in regulated activity. Staff with teaching duties will be respon- sible for the pupils that they teach and may also have additional specific pastoral or other responsibilities for other pupils they do not teach. In ad- dition, all staff will regularly interact with pupils who may seek assistance or otherwise interact with them whilst moving around the School. In all cases, the post holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the pupils is to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s safeguarding policies and procedures at all times. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are “spent” unless they are “protected” under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children. COACHING • To coach highly committed rowers to national standard, setting and implementing a full training programme (within the boundaries as set by the HOR), including S&C plan taking into consideration school commitments. • To track and monitor the progress and development of the Senior rowers. • Follow a technical model and training structure as set out by the HOR. • To have a sound knowledge of LEH rowing and sculling techniques. • To have a sound knowledge of the principles of boat rigging. • Attend annual training camps including Easter training camps. • To act as loco parentis for small groups of pupils at away events. • Prepare crews for national events. • Attend GB trials as required, including training days. • Attend every squad training session. No holidays are to be taken during planned training and racing season. • Follow all BC policies as set out by the HOR. • Work successfully and communicate effectively as part of a large coaching team. ADMINISTRATION • Assist with all relevant administration relating to the Senior squads. • Assists with club race entries. • Write formal reports, as required, for pupils in the squad. • Take charge of assigned race crew logistics and planning. • Attend Boat Club meetings. WORKING WITH THE REST OF THE SCHOOL • Work closely with the Director of Sport, Heads of other Sports and relevant Head of Departments, for the best possible outcome for pupils. HEALTH AND SAFETY • Maintain the highest standards of health and safety at all times. • To fully understand the implications of the Health and Safety Policy within the Boathouse. • Be aware of the school's own H&S and Child Protection policies and procedures and adhere to these. • Seek the advice of the Assistant Head of Rowing (AHOR) on any Health and Safety matters as required. COMMUNICATION • To communicate effectively with teachers, pupils and parents.
SPECIFIC DUTIES • To work the training hours as determined by the HOR, including races. • Assist with the implementation of the squad training programme. • Rigging of boats. • To assist with the transportation of girls and equipment to training and racing. • Assist with the securing of launches and the BC after sessions. OTHER • To be contactable at all times (except when on official holiday) by telephone or email • To undertake any other duties necessary for the smooth running of LEHBC as de- termined by the HOR • Holidays must be taken outside of training period (as set out by the HOR) and rac- ing season. Prior agreement with the HOR must be made if taking holiday during this period. • To undertake such other tasks relevant to the work or needs of the School as these needs arise and as may be reasonable requested. GENERAL • Take part in such staff training as may be agreed. • Undertake such other duties which may be reasonably required. SAFEGUARDING • Adhere to school policy on safeguarding and updating training as required. • Ensure the safeguarding and well-being of children and young people at the school in accordance with school policies.

Hours of Appointment Holiday Entitlement This is a permanent full-time position for 37.5 hours a You are entitled to paid holiday and bank holidays, week. This is a defined contribution pension scheme; provided the employee contributes 6% of gross salary, the Salary employer will contribute a further 10%. The salary for this role will be £31,228 - £35,338 per annum (dependent on experience).
