The War On Waste Continues At St Peter’s Primary School Port Waratah have happily provided environmentally friendly reusable lunch bags to the students at St Peter’s Primary School, Stockton.The lunch bags are part of the school’s commitment to reduce waste as they replace the need for paper/plastic lunch bags when ordering from the school canteen. Great initiative! Harry’s Challenge Harry’s House provides a retreat for families that have a child living with cancer or families that are grieving the loss of their child to cancer. The Harry Meyn Foundation was formed when Harry Meyn faced his own cancer battle. Harry sadly passed away from brain cancer at age seven and his family were determined to help others. Sam and David Meyn saw the need for a retreat to help families facing the same dilemma. In support of Harry’s House, this year’s Harry’s Challenge event took place at Stockton on Sunday 24 March 2019. The event provided 190 locals and visitors with an opportunity to participate in a 5km paddle or 5km family fun run, whilst supporting a fantastic cause. Port Waratah were very proud to once again be the major sponsor of this year’s event, which this year raised over $10,000.
Throsby Creek Clean Up Day Port Waratah employees and interested community members once again rolled up their sleeves to make a difference in our local area. Throsby Creek Over 45 employees were joined by community members on 27 March to clean up the Throsby Creek mangrove area at Carrington. On the day, approximately 50 bags of rubbish were collected from the area equating to approximately 215kg of waste. Port Waratah’s Billy Peden On Radio 2GB Visit Port Waratah! Have you ever wanted to see our operations up close? For many years, Port Waratah has welcomed visits from interested members of the public, social clubs, schools, educational groups, industry delegations and our customers. Tours are conducted at our Kooragang Terminal and include a presentation followed by a site tour, where you will go to the rail recieval to see the trains arriving, get up close with the stackers and reclaimers in the stockyard and finish up by heading down to the wharf to watch coal being loaded onto the vessels.
