200155 “In Flanders Fields” Soft Cover, 10½” x 9”. Written by Linda Granfield, Illustrated by Janet Wilson, 40 pages. “John McCrae’s In Flanders Fields, written from the terrible trenches of Ypres in 1915, is interwoven with fascinating information about the First World War, details of daily life in the trenches, and a description of the tragic circumstances that led to the writing of the poem.” 75th Anniversary of the End of the Second World War On September 2 1945, the Second World War officially came to an end. The war was the largest, deadliest and most destructive in history. It had been fought on almost every continent and ocean. The number of military personnel involved on both sides numbered around 70 million. It is estimated that there were 75 million casualties, both military and civilian. The end of the war came in stages, with victory in Europe followed by victory in Asia and the Pacific later in the year. With each triumph, citizens and military personnel of the allied nations erupted in celebration. After six long years, peace had finally been achieved. This year we come together as a country and as people of the world, to celebrate the victories and to remember the lives lost during one of the most trying periods in Materials in this catalogue are available to branches modern human history. through your Provincial Command.
