PAW This Week For the week ending June 8, 2021 VOLUNTEER TRAINING SERIES ON ENGAGING WITH SOCIAL MEDIA SOMETHING NEW! This week we’re starting a short series of informational posts to give you some ideas for engaging with the posts on our main social media pages. There’s always room for us to improve engagement on social media, and more engagement means having our pets seen by more people and hopefully, more adoptions. You probably know that the more people interact with a post by liking, commenting on, and sharing it, the more people the platform will show it to. This is especially important during the first 30 minutes after a post goes live. For example, the post “Adopt Clyde” on May 29th was shared and interacted with quite a bit (183 interactions), and you can see the number of people it reached was almost 2,500! The “Adopt Simba” post on June 3rd was only interacted with 60 times so it was only shown to 497 people What this means is that if we work together, we can get our pets seen by WAY more people, leading to more pets going home, faster! PAW This Week For the week ending June 8, 2021 Over the next few weeks, we’ll be giving you tips on easy ways to engage with our main page posts every week. We hope you will test them out on posts about your favorite PAW adoptables! Thanks to Liza Malnik for putting this together for us. She is taking the course through Maddie’s Fund and sharing with the group. If you have questions for Liza about the course, I’m sure you will be able to find her on PAW’s social media pages. CRITICAL NEED OF FOSTER HOMES MARTI is a 3-year-old, 68-pound Labrador Retriever mix. Marti recently had a seizure at the kennel, she is doing well, however would do better in a home setting. Please, just for a little while until she gets over the hump with the seizures. She is a happy sweet girl who would love nothing more to stay by your side and shower you with doggie kisses. Her condition has stabilized, and she is on meds to control the seizures. She would not do well in an apartment. If you would be interested in fostering MARTI, please contact Tracy Crotty at mtetm@yahoo.com Page 5 of 12
PAW This Week For the week ending June 8, 2021 BLUE is 5-year-old, 65-pound Lab. He us still new to PAW, so we are still learning about him. He is very lovable! Unfortunately, he and his sister, Red, were surrendered to a rural shelter so we need to find a new home with someone who will give him unconditional love forever! If you are interested in fostering BLUE until his forever family is found, please contact Dave Campbell at dog-coordinator@paw-rescue.org. MOOSE is a sweet energetic boy. We believe he is a German shepherd mix. He is 2 years old and weighs 64 pounds. He shows a lot of enthusiasm when he meets people and appears to be good with other dogs. He has a great fondness for sticks. We have recently discovered that Moose will not do well with cats. Moose also appears to want to give chase to cars that drive by so his new family will need to work with him on that. He would make a great companion for someone who lives an active lifestyle. If you would be interested in fostering MOOSE, please contact Tracy Crotty at mtetm@yahoo.com Page 6 of 12
PAW This Week For the week ending June 8, 2021 BROWNIE is a 5-year old, 35 lb., lab/beagle mix (or possibly whippet?) who has just arrived from Puerto Rico. We are still getting to know him and will update once we have more information. If you are interested in fostering BROWNIE, please contact Dave Campbell at dog-coordinator@paw-rescue.org. NICO is a 3-year-old, 67-pound German Shepard/ Labrador Retriever mix. Nico has just completed a training course for reactive dogs. We learned that Nico is not really a reactive dog at all. When he sees another dog on a leash, he will pull but we have seen that he can be trained not to do that. You will need to keep up his training in that regard to keep a more peaceful leash dog. He has to be an only dog in the house, he doesn’t like dogs close enough to sniff him. No cats and we recommend against children under 10 years. But Nico has lots of upside. He is really charming and smart; he likes to learn. If you fit into Nico’s categories, give him a shot. You won’t regret it. If you would be interested in fostering NICO, please contact Tracy Crotty at mtetm@yahoo.com Page 7 of 12
PAW This Week For the week ending June 8, 2021 GUS is a 2-year-old, 80-pound, Great Dane mix. He is quite affectionate and loves to be around people! He does need to work on his leash manners but is willing to learn! He is housetrained, having come from a home previously. Gus does not do well with other dogs so he will need to go to a home without another dog (or cat). No dog parks for Gus. A nice backyard would be great for Gus, or at least somewhere for him to be able to walk without having to worry about being around other pups. If you are interested in fostering GUS, please contact Dave Campbell at dog-coordinator@paw- rescue.org. QUEEN - Hi! I’m Queen, the sweetest pittie around! I’m 2 years old and 48 pounds of love! Although I'm 2, I still act like a puppy! I have a lot of energy, looooove to play with doggy friends (and don't always take "no" for an answer from other dogs; I don't get why they don't always want to play- just like meee!) and am still working on my house manners. Sometimes you just have to chew on things! I also really enjoy playing with humans and haven't yet learned that they don't always like me to play with my teeth... apparently, they think it hurts. Bummer! For this reason, I'd do best in a home with kids over the age of 12. If you are interested in fostering QUEEN, please contact Dave Campbell at dog- coordinator@paw-rescue.org. Page 8 of 12
PAW This Week For the week ending June 8, 2021 SIMBA is a 1½ year old, 57 pound, Husky mix. He is fully vaccinated and neutered, and very sweet with people and other dogs. He wants to play, play, play! His previous shelter notes that he is very affectionate; loves attention and to be petted. Do you have room in your home for this lovely young guy? If you are interested in fostering SIMBA, please contact Dave Campbell at dog-coordinator@paw-rescue.org. ROCKY is a handsome 4-year-old treeing walker coonhound. Rocky is house trained. Maybe seeing his video will want you to give him a PAW foster try. Here is Rocky Boy the Hound: Petstablished | Manage your Animal Welfare Organization (AWO) with our easy-to- use software. If you are interested in fostering ROCKY, please contact Dave Campbell at dog- coordinator@paw-rescue.org. AVON BARKSDALE (AKA Piggy due to his pink nose). Piggy is one of the happiest, goofiest, and most loving dogs we have ever met. This handsome 3 year old boy loves people and treats everyone like his best friend. He loves walks and playing, but his favorite pastime is sleeping...he's also a great pillow! Piggy is very well house-trained, and goes potty immediately when outside. He was born with hearing only in his right ear, so it takes him a little longer to figure out where sounds and voices are coming from. Piggy does not do well with most other dogs so we are looking for a home where he'd be the only one. If you are interested in fostering AVON BARKSDALE, please contact Dave Campbell at dog-coordinator@paw-rescue.org. Page 9 of 12
PAW This Week For the week ending June 8, 2021 CY – If you are looking for a sweet, loving, adorable new family member, look no further... Cy is the complete package! He is a handsome chocolate brown Labrador Retriever. He loves to give hugs and kisses and just hang out with you resting his head on your arm or lap. He is easy to walk and appears to be good with people and other dogs. Cy is 4 years old and weighs about 50lb. If you would be interested in fostering CY, please contact Tracy Crotty at mtetm@yahoo.com. OAKLEY is a 1-year-old 63-pound Chocolate Labrador Retriever mix. How can you not fall in love with his cute little face? He has a lot to learn, but he can melt your heart with his puppy eyes and very sweet and affectionate personality. He likes to be around his people and will sit/lean against your legs when he is next to you. He does have some energy but is a great couch cuddler once he's calmed down. He also seems pretty much potty trained and is very well behaved in his crate. He's very food motivated so that's very helpful with training him. He will play fetch for hours if you let him. He's a good boy and would make an excellent jogging buddy/adventure companion. After a fun-filled day of play, he likes to curl up on the couch for a good cuddle (or sometimes try to sit on top of you to be as close as possible or nibble your ears). If you would be interested in fostering OAKLEY, please contact Tracy Crotty at mtetm@yahoo.com. Page 10 of 12
