Pafuri is unrivaled walking country. Open from April to October every year, these walking trails are renowned for offering true bush lovers an opportunity to experience one of Kruger’s remotest corners on foot. Led by experienced field guides, guests will explore a place that is as vast as it is varied and wild. The trail offers guests a chance to focus on the little things, while also experiencing the rush of adrenaline when encountering the Big 5 on foot. Home base is a seasonal bush camp near the banks of the Luvuvhu where guests will enjoy hearty food and drink in a setting that allows a close-up experience of untamed Africa. What to expect: • Rustic, eco-friendly and off-the-grid trails camp in the heart of the bush • Comfortable camping beds • Serviced daily • Stocked bar - for own account • Minimum two night stay • Open from April to October • Can accommodate a maximum of eight guests • Professional walking guide • Short game drives to reach different parts of the concession where walks will take place • Walks last anywhere between 2,5 and 4 hours and range between 4 and 10km per walk • Lead guide will take into account the fitness levels of the entire group • Big 5 game reserve • Highest biodiversity in Kruger National Park • Diverse scenery and landscape including Lanner Gorge, Crook’s Corner, Fever Tree Forest, pans, mountains and floodplains • Birder’s paradise (over 350 species of bird) with unique species only occurring in Pafuri www.bretthorley.com www.bretthorley.com
OTHER USEFUL INFORMATION • Check-in is at 14H00 at Pafuri Camp • Check-out is at 11H00 • No children under 16 • Camp is not fenced • Moderate malaria area GAME ACTIVITIES • Depart every morning and afternoon • Guides take guests to parts of the concession via open Land Cruiser where they leave the vehicle to explore on foot GETTING TO PAFURI The Pafuri Walking Trails Camp is situated in the Makuleke Contract Park in the far north of the Kruger National Park. GPS Co-ordinates: 22°25’15.81”S / 31°13’45.81”E SELF DRIVE 640km/7 hours’ drive from Johannesburg to Pafuri Camp • N1 North to Louis Trichardt (Makhado) • Continue on the N1 over the Soutpansberg and turn right onto the R525 towards Tshipise • Continue past Tshipise to Pafuri Gate • Enter the Kruger Park and continue on the H1-9 about 22kms to the Luvuvhu River bridge • Look out for Pafuri Camp signage on the left of the road • Please will guests staying at Pafuri Walking Trails Camp check-in and park at Pafuri Camp CHARTER FLIGHT Other charter flights can be arranged, please contact our offices AIR / ROAD TRANSFER There are daily flights into Polokwane airport and we can arrange for a transfer from this airport to Pafuri. Head torch Camera COMMUNICATION There is no mobile phone signal at the Pafuri Walking Trails Camp. Please note that this is a wilderness area and there is no Wi-Fi available. RETURNAfrica will not be held liable for any roaming or data charges LIGHTS & WATER: WHAT TO EXPECT There is no electricity or running water at the Pafuri Walking Trails Camp. The camp is lit at night by solar Consol jars, hurricane lamps, and the open air fire pit. Each morning the guides place warm water in the standing canvas basin outside guest tents. After each game activity there is the opportunity to shower under the rustic bucket showers. Hot water is provided from big bonfires. COST: Total cost for 1 x adults x 3-night safari TOTAL COST OF TRIP ZAR 7800.00 Per person – ZAR *Based on a total eight (8) adults DEPOSIT 50% Deposit required to secure booking. Payment of deposit indicates acceptance of our quote and Terms & Conditions. Other payment methods are via direct deposit/money transfer to our bank account held with Standard Bank Hoedspruit 2) After payment of the deposit, booking is confirmed and the balance will be due 10 weeks prior to arrival. 3) Upon final payment, guests will be issued with final travel details, vouchers, and tickets. 4) Bookings made within 8 weeks (60 days) prior to arrival are subject to full prepayment at the time of confirming the reservation. NOTES Please note that you are required to have travel insurance in place as a condition of booking. Travel insurance should be taken out in guest’s home country and we recommend insurance covering you for personal effects, personal accident, medical and emergency travel expenses, cancellation and curtailment. You will need to take malaria pre-cautions. Please note that should you have been quoted in US Dollars and wish to settle payment by means of a credit card, your quotation will be converted to South African Rands prior to the transaction being processed. The Dollar/Rand rate of exchange on the day that the transaction is processed will be used to determine the equivalent Rand amount. The South African Reserve Bank prohibits South African companies from taking foreign credit card payments and keeping the payment in foreign currency. The payment has to be converted to South African Rands before it is credited to the recipient. Guests are welcome to settle payment by means of a bank transfer. In this instance, your bank, on presentation of the invoice, will convert the amount. ALL bank charges are for the guests account. Please note that in the event of flights being booked by Brett Horley Safaris on behalf of the guest, airlines require the full names of passengers as printed on their passports and will not accept changes once tickets are issued. Brett Horley Safaris accepts no responsibility for incorrect passport numbers or incorrect spelling of full names. Please ensure accurate information is sent to your Brett Horley Safaris consultant. International visitors require a valid passport together with onward travel documents. If travelling to South Africa, guests must please ensure that their passport is valid for at least 6 months after their entry date, and that they have a minimum of 2 blank back-to-back pages in their passport to enable the entry visa to be issued. (If there is insufficient space in the passport then entry will be denied). All passport holders should verify with their relevant consulate concerning visa entry requirements. If you are extending your journey to other countries, please establish entry requirements for those countries as well. In addition, a parent traveling with children without the other parent present will need a letter of consent from the absent parent. The letter of consent must be police-certified.
