2020 letter oF introduction FORM PACK Dear Pathfinder Leaders, We are excited about what God has in store for us in 2020. Our theme for Youth Ministries this year is ‘Unleashed’. This stems from our vision statement which is: Shape Faith. Unleash Leaders. Empower Churches. Expand Mission. Hence our priorities will be missional (actively spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ) to our communities. With this in mind, we are introducing two new Conference Pathfinder events. Firstly, Pathfinder Open House aims to welcome community children to a night of experiencing Pathfinders. This may be a regular hall night, or an expo type of program, where children and parents from the community can be exposed and participate in activities unique to Pathfinders. Secondly, the regional Pathfinder Service Day will be replacing the Drug Free Walk for this year. Instead, a regional service activity will be organised, where all the clubs in that region have the opportunity of being involved in service to their community. If you have any contacts or ideas regarding this activity, please contact your regional District Director. In 2019, we were very happy to see that so many clubs strived to do their best to achieve the 200 Club Award. The 200 Club Award is achievable for small clubs. The 200 Club program aims to bring Pathfinder Clubs to a higher quality and standard of operating effectively, as well as being involved with as many local and Conference events as possible. This builds community within the Local Club and is a great opportunity for smaller Clubs to network with larger Clubs. This year we would love to see as many potential Leaders as possible, in our Conference, enrolled in the Pathfinder Leadership Award (PLA), and the Pathfinder Specialist Award (PSA). Replacing our Pathfinder Remix will be a Pathfinder Leadership weekend, where PLA, PSA & Masterguides will be trained in their various disciplines. Please see 2020 Calendar for event dates. We are looking forward to supporting and resourcing your Local Club to further the gospel of Jesus Christ in your communities. Blessings, Pr Phil Yates Greater Sydney Conference - Associate Youth Director

2020 FORM PACK APPLICATION Application FORMS forms
2020 INSTRUCTIONS FOR FORMS FORM PACK There are a few new things to look out for when completing and submitting any Pathfinder-related forms. See below. You will notice that the 2020 Pathfinder forms have a new email address on the bottom of each form. Please send all forms to this address: gscpathfinders@adventist.org.au From an Organisation perspective, forms are really important as they help us get the right contact information from you, so that we can keep you up to date on all events and annoucements. They also ensure Pathfinder Clubs are operating in a professional and safe manner. We appreciate your cooperation on this. Another important thing to note is that some forms have been removed. For example the Public Liability Form is no longer available. If a company or governemnt body requires a cer- tificate from you, you must apply directly to RMS: https://rms.org.au/forms/request-a-public-li- ability-certificate/. Public Liability certificates are only required for insurance purposes. For example if you decided to have a sausage sizzle fundraiser at Bunnings, they may request that you have a Public Liability form.

2020 INVESTITURE CHECK FORM PACK Preparing for the Investiture Check The purpose is to provide the evidence that your club is ready for the honour of being invested before the local church. The investiture check is to confirm that the club has completed the requirements and that each Pathfinder can gain recognition of their skills The check is an opportunity to ‘show case’ the club The steps 1. Plan the Years Program and keep to it. 2. Set the date for the investiture with the local church board 3. Talk with your DD and confirm the Investiture Date and time. 4. Set a time for the Investiture Check – make this date as early as possible so that you give “catch up” time if you need it before the Investiture. 5. Make the DD visit a very special time. Introduce the DD to the club. Ask them to take worship or a special feature of the program. 6. Make the check easy by:- a. Making sure that all the cards or paper work has been signed by the right people b. Have the “attendance record” for the club completed c. Have samples of the Pathfinders work available for assessment I. Honours Workbooks II. Class Workbooks III. Pursuit Journals 7. Have the Pathfinders available if the DD would like to have a talk with them. 8. Make sure that the Pathfinders can recite their Memory Gems when asked by the DD. 9. Thank the DD for the visit
2020 WORKING WITH CHILDREN FORM PACK Having a Working With Children Check (WWCC) is MANDATORY for all staff and helpers of a Local Pathfinder Club. This must be obtained BEFORE working or helping in the Club. You can obtain a FREE Volunteers WWCC via the following website: https://www.kidsguardian.nsw.gov.au/child-safe-organisations/working-with-children-check The local Church is responsible to make sure that ONLY approved people can work with children. Heavy fines apply for churches and organisations who do not have all persons involved in ministry with children checked. Steps to obtain a registration number: • Be at least 18 years of age • Type into web search ‘Working with Children’ • Click on the new government site • Click on the ‘start here’ box and answer the questions • You will receive an email from ‘working with children’ that will include an APP number • Take this document to your local NSW Motor and Maritime Registry. Take proof of identification with you (such as a drivers license or passport etc.) The Seventh Day Adventist Church also requires that ALL volunteers complete their online AdSafe Code of Conduct, and ‘safe places’ modeules.
