About OEC 8 Unique 40 Competitions 300+ Years of Students from OEC 16 Across Ontario Institutions of Higher Learning OEC is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the talents of engineering students from across the province. Industry representatives are encouraged to attend all aspects of the competition, including banquets, build times, and the sponsor marketplace. This provides ample opportunity for competitors to network with professionals from a variety of engineering-related industries. Additionally, this offers the chance for your organization to attract accomplished and aspiring engineers. In order for students to advance to OEC, each team must win their respective university’s qualifier competition. Top teams from across Ontario will move on to demonstrate their design skills, communication abilities, and creativity at the OEC. The winning teams from OEC will then move on to represent Ontario at the Canadian Engineering Competition in March 2019, hosted by the University of Waterloo. 1

A Message From the Co-Chairs On behalf of us and our organizing committee, we would like to thank you and your company for taking the time to read over the contents of this Sponsorship Invitation, and for your consideration in partnering with the 2019 Ontario Engineering Competition (OEC) which will be hosted at McMaster University in January of 2019. McMaster University is honoured to be able to host the 40th prestigious and province-wide Ontario Engineering Competition. Drawing from across 16 institutions of higher learning, the OEC consistently features hundreds of Ontario’s brightest and most innovative engineering students. Our team of committed and hard working individuals is excited for the opportunity to plan a memorable and challenging event. This year’s rendition of the OEC will be focused on the theme of ‘Urban Development’ to highlight the exciting investment and work that is being done in the City of Hamilton. This will challenge engineering students to design solutions that are needed to build and sustain cities through technical and communicative means. To succeed, our competitors will not only be looking to impress the judges to win their respective competition, but some will also be young aspiring professional engineers eager to network with potential employers and partners. This weekend-long competition provides an excellent opportunity for you and your company to interact with the most inspired and exceptional crop of prospective engineers in the province. The following package outlines the nature of all eight competitions and the different opportunities your company has to partner with the 2019 Ontario Engineering Competition. Events such as the OEC are fantastic opportunities for engineering students to gain valuable skills and experiences they otherwise could not in the classroom. For these reasons we value your support and contribution to positively impacting the future of engineering students and of the engineering profession in the province of Ontario. Thank you again for your time and consideration, Keith Onderisin Thomas Siuda 3

This year, the theme we have chosen is Urban Development. This will shift our focus towards the City of Hamilton, and all the approaches being taken to make for a better urban future. Hamilton is currently faced with a set of new challenges as its economy grows to include infrastructure development projects alongside existing manufacturing and steel production. This theme will focus the attention of talented groups of engineering students attending OEC 2019 towards Hamilton’s initiatives that will spark their collective creativity and imagination.
