SEASON 2020/21 NEWSLETTER NO. 1

We go again in 2020 /21, our 132nd season, founded 1888.
The golf day in August attracted over 70 players (I hesitate to call them all golfers!).
Thanks to Barney and Brian Stapleton at APGC, it was a great success. 2k RAISED for the Club.
Winner was Master Tom Cowell who didn’t even get booked! Well done sir & Dad Chris who promised to buy
everyone a drink if his son won. Wooden spoon (club) was a certain Richard Smart, popular winner!
The Maltese Falcon Tour has been rescheduled for Bank Holiday May Day weekend 2021 with over 30 on the
plane(s). Just £100 secures your place one of the last six places and books your flight ticket from Gatwick (or
Southend!) early am Friday 30th April returning on Sunday 2nd May (Monday 3rd BH). (Slide 4)
Remember to pack white shirt with your kit. Additional kit can be bought through club shop (Slide 10)

6s… Dedicated leadership team looking for results to improve this season.
7s… Mugged by Covid, title favourites this season, start at HSBC in Beckenham.
8s… Warriors, vast improvement, keep it up, Div 5B start, the only way is up Yazz baby.

1’s Pre Season Report 2020
Date: August 1st
Match: Snodland Town Reserves vs Old Wilsonians 1’s
Score: 1-1
After months of no action a mixed Old Wilsonians 1’s team began their
2020/21 pre season away at Snodland Town Reserves.
In a game that lacked any overall quality, Wilson’s took the lead after a
turnover in possession in the Snodland half, which saw Airdrie break
through on goal only to be brought down for a penalty. The penalty was
calmly converted by Conduah into the bottom right corner. 1-0 Wilsons.
• Despite the goal the game struggled to get into any real rhythm, however
on the 40 minute mark a break down the left side from Snodland saw the
ball get worked into the forward where with little encouragement he fell to
the ground and won Snodland a penalty. Wilsons were not happy with the
decision as earlier in the break the ball appeared to be clearly out of play.
However, the penalty stood and the Snodland player stepped up and fired
home to make it 1-1. HT.
In a competitive second half, both teams struggled to create any clear cut
chances however Wilsons did have Matt Powely to thank for a stretching
save which kept the to keep the score line 1-1. FT.

1’s Pre Season Report 2020, West Wickham……..A tale of two match reports
West Wickham Away Won 3 – 1 Played 15/8.
Wilsons Home Lost 1 – 3 The West Wickham View 15/8. The game started off as fixtures against them had in the past, Wickham
moved the ball pretty well and ended up finding the net in the first fifteen
