Last Week In Pinkerton Academy Athletics Alpine Skiing: Friday, February 1st, 2019 Varsity: Girls 1st place & Boys 3rd place Another artic blast for the fifth race of the season at Crotched Mt. But this time mother nature and the snowmakers at Crotched combined to give us the best course so far. Just the right amount of “give” in the course so everybody could get an edge in and no wind made this the best race conditions of the season. Now it was time to see what each racer could do! This time it was a 6 way matchup between Pinkerton, Exeter, BG, and South, Memorial, and Central. Yet again, the Astro’s showed what it takes. After the last racer had crossed the finish line, the Girls took first place and the Boys took Third! For the Girls. Pinkerton had 382 points, Exeter was next with 378 points, BG had 367, South had 336, Memorial had 335, and Central had 247. For Pinkerton, the girls showed what teamwork was all about. With Hannah Peterson out for a conference and Caryl Huebner and Miranda Eckerman out. The girls pulled together to put us on top! Captain Danielle Martineau just keeps going! She was first for the team and first overall out of a field of 43 girls! Great job Danni !! Next in line, Katelyn Bennett was second for the team and second overall. Emily Gardner was third for the team and fifth overall, and senior Elizabeth Veale stepped up and was fourth for the team and 15th overall. Good Job Elizabeth!! Not to be outdone, her sister Annabell was right behind her coming in 5th for the team and 19th overall. Freshman Maddie Frank skied great and moved up. She was 6th for the team and 20th overall. Danielle St. Peter was 7th for the team and 23rd overall, and Sydney Pratt finished 8th for the team and 25th overall. Great job Girls. For the Boys. BG came out on top with 393.5points. All most a perfect score! Exeter was next with 372 points, Pinkerton was Third with 368.5 points, South came in Fourth with 346 points, Central had 80 points , and Memorial had 79 For Pinkerton, Senior and Captain Kenny McCarthy once again had a good night First for the team and 4th overall out of a field of 43 boys. Way to go Kenny! Owen Sezgin was out sick so senior Camden Caswell stepped in and was 2rd for the team and 13th overall. Captain Brandon Simpson had the best race so far this season and placed 3rd for the team and 16th overall and senior Jack Berrigan was having a great run and placed 4th for the team and 18th overall. Zak Kahn finished 5th for the team and 21th overall, James
Smith was 6th for the team and 24rd overall, Ethan Hatch finished 7th for the team and 28st overall, and Jackson Kuncik finished 8th for the team and 28th overall. Matthew Huebner was out . Good Job Boys Next up, a perennial favorite with the Astro’s. An all day race at Sunapee. GS in the morning and SL in the afternoon. Bowling: Saturday, February 2nd, 2019 Varsity: Dover Bowl Pinkerton’s Astros traveled to Dover Bowl meeting host Dover, Hollis-Brookline and Bishop Guertin. Varsity took 2nd seed for the baker rounds with a standard ten pin total of 1446 with games of 711 and 735. Captain Jason Barton rolled games of 187 and 161, Captain Meghan Slater 110 and 97, Matt Gagnon 131 and 107, Bryant Nourse 162 and a nice career high of 209, Lance Lemieux 127 and 161. Roster member Colby Wong 130 and 131. The Cavaliers of Hollis-Brookline took 1st seed with 1671, Bishop Guertin Cardinals 3rd seed with 1444 and the Dover Senators 4th seed with 1434. Pinkerton defeated Bishop Guertin in round 1 of the bakers 2 out of 3 games. The Astros won the first game 129 to 109, lost the second 118 to 141 and took the third 146 to 112. Pinkerton faced Hollis-Brookline in round 2 losing 2 out of 3. The Astros took the first game 164 to 154, then the second and third 116 to 154 and 131 to 129. Pinkerton Varsity earned 9 points for the day. Astros JV totaled 1233 for the standard 2 games earning 3rd seed with games of 623 and 610. Mike Fiandaca shot 144 and 86, Mike Barnard 116 and 133, Jarod Wong consistent games of 139 and 140, Courtney Crivello 91 and 80, Connor Grimard 133 and a nice career high of 171. Roster member Memphis Kirkland 102 and 76. With their 3rd seed Astros JV faced the 2nd seed Dover Senators in round 1 of baker, losing 2 out of 3; winning the 1st 135 to 125 then losing the second and third, 119 to 114 and 134 to 96. The Bishop Guertin Cardinals defeated the Astros in 2 games in round 2. Game 1 went into a tie breaker after both teams rolled a 94. The Cardinals added 37 pins to the Astros 17. Cardinals took the second game 149 to 101. JV finished 4th for the day.
Wrestling: Wednesday, January 31, 2019 Varsity: Pinkerton 43 - Alvirne 6 Wednesday night is Wrestling Dual Meet night in NH, and this week the Astros traveled to Alvirne to face a depleted Broncos squad. Without contesting 6 of the 14 weight classes, Pinkerton handled Alvirne in a businesslike manner by a score of 43-6. Leading the way for the Astros was freshman 106 pounder Casey Phalen, picking up his first Varsity dual meet victory in impressive fashion. Following his lead, were Dominic Robinson, Nathan Lindquist, Walker Stinson, David Hammond, Michael Savvas and Jack MacKiernan. Next up for the Astros: The final big test before D1 States; a dual meet against the undefeated Concord Tide AT Manchester Central, Saturday afternoon at approx 3:00. Saturday, February 2nd, 2019 Varsity: 1st Place On Saturday, the Astros traveled to Manchester Central to take on Concord and Central. When they left, they had lost to Concord by a 42-24 score, and handled Central 63-10. David Hammond, Tyler and Jack MacKiernan, Sterling McLaughlin and Kyle Setzer all went undefeated. Also picking up victories were Dom Robinson, Nathan Lindquist, Walker Stinson, Marcus Sconza, Mike Savvas, Christian Kuechler and Nick Fortunata. With his second win of the day, Senior Tyler MacKiernan joined classmate Robbie Fahey in the 100 Win Club. Congratulations Tyler! Next up for the Astros: Senior Night in the field house as we host Exeter for the regular season finale. Come help us recognize our 14 seniors!

A great all around team effort on defense and offense. Great job on the boards. Thursday, January 31, 2019 JV: Pinkerton 48 - Londonderry 36 Londonderry HS (0-7) 2 - 14 - 11 - 9 - -- 36 Pinkerton (3-6) 9 - 10 - 15 - 14 - -- 48 Pinkerton (48) Chalifour 12, McLaughlin 9, Conroy 6, Dunne 6, Riccio 4, LeDuc 4, O'Hearn 3, Madore 2, Depelteau 2, Withee, Warriner 3-Pointers: Chalifour 2, O'Hearn 1, McLaughlin 1 Notes: After holding Londonderry to 2 points in the 1st quarter Londonderry was able to make it close in the 2nd quarter. The boys pulled it together in the second half to pull out a 12 point victory in Londonderry. The JV will travel to Windham on Tuesday. It was a night of balanced scoring with three players in double figures. Anthony DeSalvo racked up 13 points While Ian Fitzgerald and Max Lukeman had 10 a piece. Friday, February 1st, 2019 Varsity: Londonderry 63 - Pinkerton 39 Londonderry HS (8-2) 15 - 19 - 14 - 15 - -- 63 Pinkerton (1-9) 8 - 12 - 9 - 10 - -- 39 Pinkerton (39) Reynolds 13, Day 8, DaBreo 7, Lombard 4, Conroy 3, Bolduc 2, Packowski 2, MacDonald, Riccio, Flynn, Dunne 3-Pointers: Day 2, Reynolds 1 Notes: It was a tough night for the Varsity Boys as they lost to Londonderry 63-39. The boys will try to get back in the win column on Tuesday in Windham. Girls Basketball: Monday, January 28, 2019 Varsity: Pinkerton 64 - Nashua North 45 The Lady Astros got a 64-45 win over Nashua North to run their record to 10-1 in D1. Brooke Kane led the charge with 27 points followed by Avah Ingalls with 12 and Jesse Ames with 10. JV: Pinkerton 48 - Nashua North 33
The JV Astros traveled to Nashua North and got the 48-33 win. Kristina Packowski led the team in points with 12 followed by Becca Farnum with 8 points. Thursday, January 31, 2019 JV: Londonderry 44 - Pinkerton 43 The Girls JV team took their first loss of the season in a high energy game, than went in overtime against Londonderry. Lily Melton had 9 points followed by Hailey Frost with 8. Becca Farnum and Kristina Packowski also played well for the Astros. Friday, February 1st, 2019 Varsity: Pinkerton 59 - Londonderry 44 The Lady Astros ran their record to 11-1 with a 59-44 win over Londonderry. Brooke Kane had 23 points followed by Madison Mahoney with 16. Jesse Ames contributed 10 points with Avah Ingalls not far behind with 8 points. Unified Basketball: Thursday, January 31, 2019 Varsity: Pinkerton 41 - Concord 24 The Unified Basketball team suffered its first loss of the season 41-24 to Concord. Solid games were turned in by Seamus Matson and Grace Edwards on the offensive end and solid defense was played by Shayli Ragas and Dan Sullivan. Ice Hockey: Wednesday, January 30, 2019 Varsity: Pinkerton 3 - Bishop Guertin 1 Pinkerton came out sluggish against BG, and that set the tone for the first period.
While neither team was able to score in the first period, both teams found the net in the second. Pinkerton scored less than a minute into the period off a shot from Gennaro Marra, assisted by Mason Drouin. Drouin followed with his own goal on a power play, assisted by Gennaro Marra and Jack Normand. Gennaro Marra scored his second of the night, unassisted, to put the Astros up by three. Bishop Guertin followed with their own goal halfway through the second period to cut the lead to two. After a productive second period, both teams were unable to find the net again in the third. Pinkerton dominated the play in the final period despite being unable to score again. Saturday, February 2nd, 2019 Varsity: Concord 5 - Pinkerton 3 Pinkerton lost 5-3 to Concord. 1st period goals: Concord - 10:01 2nd period goals: Concord - 9:24 Pinkerton - 10:16, Ethan Burgess from Patrick Last and Hunter Drouin 3rd period goals: Pinkerton - :33, Hunter Drouin from Ethan Burgess and Patrick Last Pinkerton - 2:05, Ethan Burgess from Hunter Drouin Concord - 6:33 Concord - 9:52 Concord - 14:54 - empty netter Dakota Robinson had 37 saves. Wednesday, January 30, 2019 Varsity: Pinkerton 12 - Kingswood 0 Girls Hockey beat Kingswood 12-0. In the first period Jordyn Wasiejko netted a hat trick; while Molly Fahey, Gabbie Willett, Haley Sauer, and Lauren Riviere added to the scoring with one goal each. In the second period Haley Sauer, Chloe Laborgne, and Lindsey Porter all recorded one goal each. In the third period Madeline Knight and Jess Mitchell each scored one goal. Alexis Skafas recorded her second shutout of the year. Boys Indoor Track: Sunday, February 3rd, 2019 Varsity: Division I State Champions Girls Indoor Track: Sunday, February 3rd, 2019 Varsity: 3rd Place The PA girls track team competed in the Division 1 championship at Dartmouth yesterday. The team placed third. The team placed right where it was projected to. It was absolutely a team effort with multiple athletes competing and contributing to scoring in multiple events each. There was one Division 1 individual champion, Macy Graves(10), in the 600. Macy also ran on all three scoring relay teams. It made for a mentally and physically tough, but successful day. Her sister, Amelia Graves(12), also completed and scored in four events. Meghan Cross(11) competed in three events and scored highly in two. Meaghan Robidoux(12) and Megan O'Brien(12) also helped the team score in two relays each. Scoring for the Astros: Meghan Cross 3000. 3rd place in a PR of 10:34.33 Macy Graves 600. 1st place in a PR of 1:40.76 Amelia Graves 55. 6th place in 7.71 Amelia Graves 300. 2nd place in 42.56 Adrianna Buccieri(11) shot put. 5th place with 31' 11.25" Emily Lesburt(11) high jump. 4th place with 4' 10" 4x800 2nd place in a season best 10:04.82 with the team of Meghan Cross, Royce D'Amelio(9), Meaghan Robidoux, and Macy Graves. 4x400 3rd place in a season best 4:12.46 with the team of Macy Graves, Meaghan Robidoux, Megan O'Brien, and Amelia Graves 4x200 5th place in a season best 1:51.80 with the team of Megan O'Brien, Macy Graves, Hannah Frazier(12), and Amelia Graves The gils worked hard this season and in the championship. We are pleased with the results and will be hungry to do even better next year. Gymnastics Thursday, January 31, 2019 Pinkerton finished their regular season undefeated, 26-0. This also led to PA hitting 200 wins since my takeover 2011. Isabella Scarpetti led the way, as she won vault, bars, beam, floor and the AA. Pinkerton is back at it on February 9th as they aim to defend their State Championship title in their home court.
Athlete of the Week: Macy Graves, Sophomore: Girls Indoor Track Accounted for 26 of 46 team points in a 3rd place finish at the state meet. Ran on the 5th place 4x200m relay, 3rd place 4x400m relay, and 2nd place 4x800m relay, as well as winning the 600m race. Conor Seleny, Junior: Boys Indoor Track Helped lead boys track to a state title by accounting for 30 of the teams 75 points. Conor took 3rd in the 55m hurdles, 2nd in the 300m dash, anchored the 3rd place 4x400m relay and anchored the winning 4x200m relay which sealed the victory.
