The OCULUS BIOM® 5 Perfect view for non-contact wide angle observation > The OCULUS BIOM® was a revolution in vitreoretinal surgery and forever changed fundus viewing. > Now 25 years later, the evolution continues. > The BIOM® 5 series continuously incorporates the principle of indirect ophthalmoscopy in the operating microscope. Enlarge Your Perspective !
The next evolution in non-contact wide angle observation Efficiency meets function The easy handling of the BIOM® 5 persuades more and more surgeons. While observing the vitreous and the fundus, the BIOM® 5 is aligned coaxially with the operating microscope. During extraocular phases of surgery, it is swung aside out of the observation beam while the inverting action of the SDI® is neutralized manually, by foot switch or automatically, if the SDI® 4c / BIOM® 5c are used. All sterilizable parts of the BIOM® system are steam autoclavable following the latest recommendations. The secret A steam autoclavable micro switch for control of the SDI® 4c guarantees convenience at its best. The activation of the inverter function is ensured as long as the position of the BIOM® 5c requires it. Of course the SDI® can be controlled independently. > Intelligent activation of the SDI® 4c BIOM® 5c (with motorized focus) Including the improvements of the BIOM® 5m, the latest version, the BIOM® 5c offers additionally the convenience of motorized focusing of the BIOM® image. It incorporates the intelligent and automatic control of the corresponding inverter, the SDI® 4c. > BIOM® 5c in working position
OCULUS BIOM® 5 The advantages Slim and sleek The slim silhouette is not only styled attractively, but also light weight. The open design supports easier access for reprocessing and also increases freedom of movement for hands and instruments. Optimized surgical efficiency with the new system Changing between the view of the retina and the anterior segment with the new design of reduction lenses is easy and even faster than before. The combination of wide field with high definition is gaining popularity among experienced experts; this lens version reduces the necessity to exchange the front lens during a case. Maximum accuracy Stainless steel and titanium offer durability with less play giving improved lens adjustment and even greater stability of the front lens. The stainless steel lens holder and guidance limit the play of the front lens. Due to the shape of the lens receptacle and the small size of the lens frame, space consumption in the operating field is minimized. High durability for the toughest demands The new BIOM® 5 versions are made from titanium and stainless steel offering the highest mechanical stability; this material assembly offers excellent resistance to todays rigorous and sometimes harsh sterilization methods. Great compatiblity and continuity The BIOM® 5 is interchangeable with most accessories of the former BIOM® 3 and BIOM® 4 versions.
Still the best: OCULUS SDI® 4 Stereoscopic Diagonal Inverter > Cutting-edge technology in a stunning design > Smaller than ever – really slim > For ergonomics in use All SDI® Small dimensions High transmission glass optics Integration in most surgical microscopes Easy to mount Manually inversion > SDI® 4m Basic version No voltage supply or cables required For the use with BIOM® 5m Motorized inversion Electric switching Integration into most microscope foot pedals is possible For the use with the BIOM® 5m > SDI® 4e Automatic inversion Automatic activation depending on the position of the BIOM® 5c Connectors on both sides for convenient handling SDI® 4c is required to control the motorized focus of the BIOM® 5c For the use with all BIOM® versions > SDI® 4c
